Anyone who has read Bel Mooneys book, A small dog saved my life, will know of her little rescue dog that gave her so much love. As Bel says "Bonnie was just a silly little squiggle on the face of the earth, but to me an inexhaustible supply of glorious fun and serious, unconditional love ".

Now that Bonnie has gone Bel is left wondering Do dogs go to heaven?

Your thoughts welcome

of course they do

seriously tho, one has to believe in the animal having a soul, to believe that the soul enters heaven [and believe in heaven and god of course]
and if you believe one species has a soul, then why not all species
tbh i dont think any animals think of the 'afterlife' as we do, as I dont believe any animal is born knowing that they are going to die, unlike ourselves

I believe they do yes. I also believe we will all be together there one day, in spirit if not in body so I am looking forward to meeting up with my horses, cats and dogs although some of the people I'd prefer to give a miss :D Death doesn't frighten me, I feel I'll have lots to look forward to such as warming my hands under my horse's long flowing white mane whilst resting my head against him, I can still smell him now 17 years after he died not to mention having the biggest rottie hugs with my departed boys and girls.

my family gets cremated as we believe this free's the soul to move into the next lifetime and be reincarnated. How do you explain children who can describe a previous life they lived?

I believe animals have souls and only difference is cos their lives are short compared to ours, they can reincarnate back in the same lifetime and come back to their same owner more than once.

I can clearly remember as a fairly young child "knowing" that this is what happens; I was quite surprised when someone started telling me about heaven etc. Because I had just assumed we'd be reincarnated as someone else and have a different life.

I think that sometimes animals go to heaven and sometimes they become new lifeforms. When I had one of my rabbits die,I sware I saw him at the back of my garden and I also see my Granddads dead cat sitting at the top of the stairs. If ghosts are real then heaven is too in my opinion ☺.

I believe that heaven is somewhere you go to be perfectly happy for eternity so if you need your animals with you after you die they will be there for you. I do not believe heaven is a place for animals automatically. Maybe though we will all just be happy and not need anything at all.

I was in Cornwall when my lovely Pei M'boi died. We had her cremated and scattered her ashes on the cliffs facing France, so her spirit could find its way home to Hungary. Although it was probably due to a fertile imagination I sure when we arrived home I saw her running down the garden to meet me.

I'd very much like to think humans and their animals are reunited in heaven,if only because It's comforting to believe that she and my beloved younger son who died the year before M'boi are enjoying themselves somewhere up there!

Yes I think they do I once went to a show to see a medium the hall was packed all the lights were out when he came on the stage apart from the foot lights and he actually told me there was someone here for me he then went on to tell me it was a cat gave the cats name and said it died very old and it was a cat with no tail now there is no way he would have known that I was not even thinking about my old cat but he got it all spot on so if he could contact my cat then they must have a soul

I believe they do. I once read someones experience of a near death experience (may have been on here actually - I shall have a looksie) and they went to a lovely place where all their deceased relatives and pets were. They greeted their deceased family and pets but a voice said that they could not stay as it was not their time and they needed to help and do good in their life. They then woke up in hospital.
That, amongst other stories, and my own believes lead me to belief there is an afterlife and a heaven and that animals will be there. For me, it wouldn't be heaven without my lost pets. :)

Just found the NDE I was refering to http://www.petforums.co.uk/threads/nde-dogs-in-the-afterlife.274693/
