How much raw can your freezer fit?

I want to make my first order for raw, but so many of the websites insist on very large orders before they will deliver. I've got a chest freezer just for raw, but I've no idea how much it will hold.

How big is your freezer and how much in weight roughly can it fit?

I had this quandry last month!! I have a small chest freezer - its about the same size as a standard sized freezer and I ordered 40lb from Cleardayraw. It didn't fill it. I have 60lb coming on sunday - this should fill it!!!
Have you used all of the first order yet? IE will the freezer now have 60lbs in or 100lbs?! Yes, I really have that little idea how much will fit!

This is why I have two chest freezers (one humungous, one medium) and two upright freezers!
I've got one large ish chest freezer, but am considering buying another cheap second hand one given all this!

The best value for money raw suppliers require a 150lb min delivery! I've no idea how many freezers that would need!

This is the freezer I have:

(if it helps the meat on top is just over 30kg)

I can fit in enough to last my two (who eat about 48kg every 30 days between them) about a month and a half to two months. So about 72kg/159lb.

If you're freezer is bigger than mine then you should be able to fit a 150lb delivery in. Though it does depend on if it's mostly minced or if you've got awkward bones to get in.

The Bosch chest freezer that I've got is huge, it would hold about three bodies! Or in litres, not far off 400! Then I've got a smaller LEC chest freezer, which holds about 200 litres, and then two upright freezers each with 3 draws. I try and go for makes that do A+ energy ratings.
... so you hold about a years supply at once? :p
I'm more disturbed by how she knows it will fit 3 bodies :skep:

It LOOKS like it will hold three bodies :ihih:

The LEC freezer and one of the upright freezers are the main dog food freezers, but I do use the large Bosch chest freezer as an 'overflow'. I don't mind storing chicken and bones from the butchers in there, but I prefer to use the LEC for anything smelly.

I've got a dog food storage/prep room that holds all the dog food stuff, knives for splitting up carcasses, hacksaw for the bits knives won't go through, industrial mincer that goes through small bones and all the storage containers to put them away in the freezer. So there's the two chest freezers, an upright freezer and an upright fridge in there, which doubles up as alcohol fridge/dog food storage/defrosting.

:D

I have a dog food prep room too. Except mine's called 'the kitchen'. :p

Below is an 8ld post of mine so i didntbhave to find the photos lol,
In the big one I will put 20lb awkward shaped tripe blocks in bottom drawer, second shelf has about 40lb mvm sausages, first drawer is 5kg duck wings and various bones
Second drawer is trays of liver kidney and heart

In the little one is usually 10kg of chicken necks on top shelf, 15kg chicken carcasses on second shelf and 5kg chicken wings in the little bottom drawer

In all honesty I would have thought you could fit 150lb minces in your average chest freezer, depending on shape and of course bones can be more awkward and take up mkre room

im sorry I dont know the capacity of my two freezers as I bought both second hand
mine are both uprights
in the smaller one I can fit 1 months worth of food, or almost 40 kg of food carefully packed
I didnt really need the second but it gives me greater flexibility
So now I have the smaller one as what I call my 'bone freezer'
and the larger one which is all tripe fish offal carcasses trotters and the odd mince.
15kg of chicken carcasses fits on one shelf in the big one would you believe it!! although its hard cracking them out somedays as they have all frozen together

I've just measured the chest and it's 85cm height, 22cm depth, 22cm width.

Is that about the size of your smaller one there babycham2002?

I'm wondering if I should just risk the 150lb order and try to be clever with how it's packed...
I'd go with 100lb just to be on the safe side. Who are you ordering from? Some products stack differently. I have my drawered freezer for stackable products and the chest for bulky stuff :)

That's the thing, the minimum order is 150lb. It's from Albion - which is where her breeder gets her raw food from. I've found another, Bulmer, which is cheaper, but still, they want a min order of 150lb! They do mention something about being able to cater for smaller orders, so I've emailed them asking, but they have yet to reply.

Then just go for it - there's only one way to find out how much you can fit in.

I think I will! Live and learn and all.

I could find space for a second freezer, if it comes to it in the future. I'd just rather avoid the hassle if I can.
Well what I don't fit in their freezers - I shove in our freezer - or our fridge and they eat that over the next few days.
