Hi,
Just wondering if the plug in may get hot or if its perfectly safe?

Seems a good idea at the mo...

Thanx

We have used them for the last 8 years, plugged in all the time. They can get a bit warm but I was assuming they are meant to get warm to release the pheromones. I can tell when it has run out as Bob is more noisy than usual, and more likely to bite me.

I also use the spray in the carrier for him when we go to the vet, or if he is being particularly dangerous to my ankles.

It does get hot. Jiskefet suggested that you could put it on a timer 2 hrs on, 2 hrs off and make it last twice as long which seems a very good idea and may help with the heat also.

I used it during our introduction period and it seemed to work, I know people say that it doesn't work on all cats, and Pet Remedy may work for them (as Carly says)

Hi Kath, I've used 6 successive Feliway plug-ins on an extension lead into a single socket. I don't use any other electrical equipment on this lead and, yes, it does seem to get very hot as it has to be on 24/7. But so far nothing untoward has happened so I just keep an eye on it. Sometimes I get anxious and turn it off for 10 minutes but I don't think that is necessary. Feliway really does its job though, doesn't it ?

We have one Pet Remedy and Two Feliways running, and we have a very laid back calm household.

The report you site is from 2006!
Hmmm sorry that's out an old message .. but IMO and based on my research I have no reason to believe that kitties have since learned to metabolise them ...

I prefer to be safe than sorry and when there are better choices I go for them.
People here say Feliway plug in is effective -- so we're just awaiting our delivery :)
