Who could argue , I am ever so slightly biased .lol

Teperament is awesome friendly with all who wish to be friends with , absolutely stunning .Love to sleep so spend most of the day at total peace .Once out taking excercise can astound by speed and agility .Fearless yet placid with absolute loyalty to owner and family .Ease of care with short hair that moults less than many . Lack of barking unless dog detects danger or needs to attract owners attention . And loving beyond belief ,.I could go on and on and on and on and on and on ......................................

So do I ;).

In all honesty though, what is one person's ideal is another's nightmare which is what is great about PF - everyone thinks their dog is the 'best' in many ways - and we are all right. If the dog suits the owner / family...then they have the best dog .

For me...yes a ridgie is the 'best' breed :D.

I guess this is a thread for Ridgie owners only then? :(

Such elitism! ;) :D

Ive always admired the breed, they are stunning to look at!

But after meeting Kilo (OMG the lovely Kilo!), I did realise I actually loved the breed. It is a dog I would now love to own, but the size more than anything does put me off.... mainly because I dont think I could ever afford to feed one and I doubt Id beable to hold onto one should they decide to drag me through a muddy puddle, altho I think that is one of the many perks and delights of owning such a beautiful and brilliant all round breed :D

Something tells me I will end up owning a Ridgeback next, but for now Sailor and Ace are in my humble opinion clearly far better than any Ridgie :p not for any real great points, just because they are both quirky :D

I have grown really fond of Ridgebacks lately, and the lovely Ziva has helped a lot :D

They are now on my shortlist of breeds for my next dog.

As i said previously i am biased due to having one as my best pal ,but ownership and bias apart many of the worries people seem to have about Ridgeback ownership are unfounded .As for feeding i dont think they cost anymore than any other large dog their food amount is pretty standard it is the cheeky inbuilt semi human that is the greedy part of a ridgeback ,whilst they think there is the slightest chance of a titbit they will be almost in your pocket nuzzled against you .I could go on all day about the ridgebacks attributes they are half dog half human ,you could own a ridgeback and live in a bedsit they wouldn't mind they are extremely lazy and will lie about for 23 hrs a day but jeez once out and set free they have the energy of ten dogs and seem to run faster than any greyhound i have ever seen .

Cooper must have the energy of 20 dogs then as Golfchicks Ziva (sensible lady that she is) tires before Cooper, lol

Don't know if it's true with all Ridgebacks, as I have only had experience up close with Ziva, but she seems much more willing than Cooper (Dalmatian) and easier to trian (or that could just be all the good work Golfchick has put in), Mr spot is defiant to the very end.lol
