Is there an app to discover where I can go with my dog? (e.g restaurants, hotels, etc.)

I dont know hardly anyone that takes their dog with them to the pub or cafe and certainly not a restaurant. Never seen dogs except in the odd cafe. Any I have asked at I have been firmly told dogs are not allowed. I know one of our local pubs that lets dogs in but the only ones I have seen in there have been a right pain begging for food and getting in the way. We used to always take our dogs shopping and into pubs but it does not seem the thing to do at all nowadays which is a shame. Too many bad mannered dogs I suppose.

Maybe not where you live but i can assure you it is very common where i am.

This really isnt the case here either - maybe because dogs are used to going into these places regularly. They are all really polite View attachment 452612

Till was taking a bit of a liberty with space here (cafe, not restaurant) View attachment 452613

Dogs even are welcome in the library on fridays!
I must say the couple of holidays I have had in Perthshire I have found more dog friendly places. Nairn has a couple of cafes you can take dogs but the nicer ones do not allow them and in Orkney it is very rare to find somewhere they are welcome.

My husband is my family but I don't bring him to a lot of things with me simply because he would not enjoy it. If I want to go eat Thai food, I bring my daughter or go with a friend as my husband and son don't like Thai food.

I think that's an important point too. Not all dogs enjoy being brought on every outing with their owners. Some dogs find a restaurant setting overwhelming. Some dogs have FOMO and having to sit quietly under the table instead of investigating everything happening is near torture. My old dog used to come out with us, now having to lay on hard ground would be very uncomfortable for him, and as a 90 pound dog, bringing a bed for him that's cushioned enough for him to be comfortable just isn't practical. I'd be toting a small mattress around with me! Some dogs would just rather go for a long walk and sit in the quiet of the car while owners have a quick bite (*puts on flackjacket after mentioning dogs in cars*)

It's not that bringing a dog to a restaurant is strange or that people who choose not to don't love their dogs as much. Some dogs may not want to sit under a table in a restaurant for however long it takes their owners to have a meal. The dog's feelings should matter too.
Mine would far rather be in the car though they do occasionally come in a cafe with us if we happen to be out with them. We stopped off at an outside cafe last weekend half way round a walk but if it had been at the end of the walk they would have gone in the car. I cant imagine taking them in an actual restaurant as they would not enjoy it and neither would I and you never know if the person on the next table might be uncomfortable. And my dogs are definitely members of my family. I just went out with a friend for tea and a scone, never crossed my mind to take my husband or the dogs!

Mine will also stay in the car very happily, and i would never take them into a cafe if they were muddy or wet and smelly after a walk. We dont take them out with us normally in the evenings either.

But when i get up of a morning, generally the dogs will be with me the full day, no matter what i am doing. They can stay in the car if im in the supermarket or something but i will usually plan a supermarket trip to include a walk for them. They will stay at home very settled if needbe (and they do during the evenings) but my days always include them.

I was the same when i had my dog at home - i always used to take my dog with me to the pub! Always, always had the dog with me wherever possible. Seems odd now looking back but i think people must have just known i always had my dog with me wherever possible and no one commented on it at all.
I think it used to be more accepted. When I lived in England my dogs went in the pub and in shops but no longer allowed.

It's sad how much times have changed, I've seen so much posted on social media lately about dog thefts it has made me wary, even dogs you wouldn't see as 'valuable' Dottie is a mongrel and spayed so not a lot of use unless you want some rats eradicated! Billy is a cute puppy so no doubt could be sold on for stupid money. As for leaving them in the car I don't see an issue if just popping in to a supermarket especially during the day but I wouldn't leave mine for any length of time. We were in a service station once when we heard a dog was taken from a car.
I think social media has a lot to answer for! I see dogs in cars all the time.

My 70s dogs used to be off lead in towns. my collie would bite people if she was tied up so I would either take her in a shop and tell her to lie down in a corner or leave her outside in a down stay. I dont think it is actually illegal now, just considered a bit rash. But when I think back to all the dog and horse related things I used to do from a young age I think health and safety has gone mad and we are rearing a generation of fusspots with no idea of making a sensible risk assessment in their heads.
