Hi, does any one know if Orijen is vaccum packed?

The 3 bags I have had hasn't been. bought the 2.5kg, and the 13.5 Kg bags
I wrote to Champion who make Orijen last year about this and no they do not vacuum pack but the bags at the bottom and middle of the pallets when shipped sometime look as if they are vacuum packed. I have had bags that seem vacuum packed and bags that are not but are the same inside.

I think it happens when ship.

Contact Champion as they are really helpful

I'm virtually certain the one we bought the other day was.

It was very flat and as hard as nails, and as soon as I snipped the corner, the air rushed in and the bag expanded.

I don't know what else would've caused that to happen.

Agreed. I wonder why the manufacturers said they don't do this? :confused1:

You made me wonder and realize that sometimes it is and some times it isn't... odd :confused1:
went to storage room to check and indeed this last bag (bought from a shop), isn't vacuumed, but I swear I have had vacuumed ones in the past
Yes I've had the same thing, it tends to depend on where you get it. I find if I order from Orijen themselves I get the vaccum packed ones and if I order from Zooplus I get regular packs.

Very odd

Does anyone know what difference it makes? My guess is that the food would stay fresher until opened if it's vacuum packed.
That would be the case, yes.

As it's manufactured in Canada, perhaps they only vacuum pack the stuff that's exported - just to be on the safe side? Also, the vacuum packed ones we've had take up very little room, so it's probably to do with storage/shipping space also.

It's still bizarre that the company themselves deny doing this though.
