happy for you people willing to give this puppy a loving and caring home it
needs,its great to hear that from you we are very exited about that,so as you
saw in my mail we are presently in Essex due the sad news i told you about my
grand mum although she is trying to recover as the doctor said.

So if you don't mind i will need your full delivery details for this puppy to be
delivered to you tomorrow if that pleases you,so the information i will need are
as follows..

Thats exactly what happened. And thats what she told me as well. Thankfully I caught on to her little scam before I lost my money. Your best bet is to contact local breeders and go see the pup in person. I had to drive 6 hours round trip to pick up Mr. Winkles (thats what we named him lol) but it was well worth it. Sometimes breeders end up with puppies that they cant sell because of a health condition and you can usually get them half of what they orginally sell for. Mine had a S1 grade heart murmer when I got him but he has grown out of it. He's not 16 weeks old and just full of it. Dont send any money. More then likely its a scam. Good luck on your search. Hope you find one.

I was just in the process of emailing 'Jack Smith' back about a labradoodle or a St. Bernard puppy. I originally found the dogs as I was looking for a rescue puppy to rehome, I thought it a bit strange that it didn't have a rescue centre on it, but it had the email address and as it was a rescue centre (supposedly as I thought), it didn't think it that strange that it was looking to rehome some puppies, what I did find a bit odd though was the 'champion bloodline' part as if they were rescue, this wouldn't be known. Also it said that they were 'potty trained' - obviously a lot better trained than the average dog who is only toilet trained. It also said that they are very eager and energetic to learn, but they're puppies of a few weeks that have had no real socialisation. The part that did make me think it was genuine was that he was quite in-depth with the questions about me, making sure that I wasn't a breeder, and that I was suitable to have a dog and the surroundings that I live in would be suitable. It also stated about all the checks etc that would be done on the dog and the after care and insurance, as rescue centre's do, so I honestly thought it was genuine, and was quite happy to donate for the adoption.

I nearly fell for it, but something didn't quite add up, as I wondered why the rescue centre details didn't show on the email such as the name, address and phone number. Thank goodness I googled the email address or I would have been encouraging the trade of puppy farming when I was actuallythought I was purchasing a rescue to avoid the promotion of this cruel method.

 

I have since seen that he has been re-homing nearly every breed under the sun, the trap is to say re-homing rather than selling, therefore it grabs your interest more.

I have also found the attached link with other businesses linked to him and a very abrupt conversation between him, his colleague and someone else.

I have had a few of these scam emails for labrador pups and when you contact them they are either right up in the north of Scotland or in the Isle of Man. I did tell the one in Scotland that my hubby was working in Scotland so he could collect the pup on my behalf, never heard from them again.

I actually notified the police who have passed the details on to the fraud squad so lets hope some of them get their just rewards:thumbup:

 

Hello everyone. I think like everyone I also had people trying to scamme me. I love animals and because I know by experience how it's to be given a second chance to live I decided (with my family) to adopt an animal. First it was an old man from london sayng he had two grey african birds to give has he could take care of them any more. When I said I was interested on the birds he changed the location of his home to Glasgow and offered him sell to help with the cost of a courier. Good thing is my daddy didn't raise an idiot so as soon he mention the new location and payment to be made by western union I knew it was a scamm. The most recent ones happen yesterday and today. Two lads trying exactly the same method. First they live in Hampshire but them when you mention that you also live in hampshire they will say they recently move to Scotland or Wales. They will that the puppies are for free and you just need to pay for the courrier. The ones I have en****er so far go by the names of: Paul Humphrey, Steve Macdowell and Tina Bryner. An easy method to check if they are scammers is: look in different websites for post of the same person, check different breeds and check for different locations. I have found these names in different websites offering LOADS, I mean LOADS of different puppies (one of them having about 25 different posts on the same website for different breeds).
They will sound like the most lovelly people you ever seen in your life.
So keep in mind. If it sound to good to be true, its because it isn't.

 

When I was looking for a puppy, yes I went on all those sites, freeads, gumtree you name it and got so many scammer replies back. Of course I didn't realise they were scammers but after getting 4 emails back for 4 different dogs all exactly the same. The way they replied was the same like their first language was not English, asked all the same questions in the same order and ended with we can delivar the puppy to you we just need these details... once I asked for pictures of the puppy with them they never reply The local puppies I could come and see ended up in Scotland.. why is it always Scotland

The type of picture they use is also a pretty good indicator, most the scam replies I got used very proffessional looking pictures straight from the net while honast sellers had normal looking pictures in the house with owners. Then I used Champdogs and the kennel club sites after learning more but if someone really wants an advertised puppy they might just hand over the money because to many people want to believe in honasty and I think it's the older generation who will be more gullible from the 'in my day' speech

A friend of mine has fallen for one of these scams.. She was buying (or thought she was) a pug puppy. She'd found the ad online and rang the man up. The ad said he was based in Swansea but he told her he was in Scotland and the ad must have been a typo. Anyway the 'pugs' were being sold for £200 but shipping was going to cost £100 on top. She believed herself to be getting an unbelievably brilliant pedigree dog for what seemed to be a bargain. She sent the man the £100 and the man gave her a reference number and a phone number for a specialist animal courier... Needless to say the numbers he had given her were complete BS. She was absolutely devastated and still hasn't recieved the money back (a police investigation is ongoing but it's unlikely something will be done about it unfortunately) although she does now have a gorgeous little pug

 

I can't believe some people can be so sick to be scammers! Keep a watch out for them.

 

Well we have attempted to buy a puppy from several online ads only to be told that they only live in Scotland or the Isle of Man and the dogs are for sale after various deaths in the family, all stories are the same. Sad as its wasting peoples time, I feel sorry for your friend.

 

I do not doubt for one minute that people will try to create a scam out of the sale of a newborn puppy or kitten. Do not worry about the methods they use, if it is too good to be true IT IS! Only make payment face to face and do not make a deposit unless they are a licensed breeder. Only use reputable sites to source a puppy or kitten, avoid classified ads and i think this website is a good place to build trust and find breeders who deliver promises. Good luck

I never replied obviously, people like this get in my hair! so infuriating :nono:

Why even respond to the advert initially Im sorry but most of the Free to Good Homes which are scams stand out like a sore thumb. It such a shame that free advertising of animals is allowed as it really does make it a free haven for BYB and scammers alike.

My girl was a genuine free to a good home puppy.

Wish I had saved her advert now. It had a rubbish picture but detailed info on her / a mobile number and the town she was in. An dof course the obligitory 'has to be gone tonight' - Which she was lol :thumbsup:

I was still hesitant - Spent 20 minutes writing down a long list of questions which I asked them over the phone in order to try dig to see if their was another reason (other than not enough time) they wanted rid.

If you found you got this alot when searching for a puppy then I would of tried an alternative method of finding a breeder.

 

i put an advert on pets 4 homes a couple of months ago looking for a pup,i had quite a few genuine msgs back then had a txt it read a little bit strange but i answered this guy then emailed me with a long msg explaining that he had pups for sale and he needed to get rid of them as his wife had died and he couldnt bear the sight of them he wanted £500 for two labs !!!.
i got rid of that msg very quickly came on here asked for some advice some genuine advice was given , i found my pup and we pick him up next week .its more about common sense if it dont feel right get rid

 

I was looking on kittens for adoption and I saw they had maine coon and wedgie kittens for free . I at first thought they must be part maine coon and wedgie and it was advertised in London, so I thought that wouldn't be to far to travel I will send them both a message . They both told me that they were full pedigree and one was in the isle of man and another was in ayreshire Scotland and that they would ship them to me by aeroplane for a cost of £150 to a shipping company. The scotish one wanted to know if I had a vet Doctors and asked me for my address and zip code and their spelling and grammar was appalling (even worse than mine lol). The isle of man one said she would send me a kitten bath shampoo plus lots more and said that her kittens had all their claws and that she would send me the kittens adoption papers . Needless to say I didn't reply and I looked on the kittens for adoption website and saw that there was no one I could email to report these people I also noticed that they have sites in france some other European country I forget which and America . I think these scamers either have people who live in America intheir ring or they are latching on to the brtish site via the American site . I had a look through the cats on the kittens for adoption website and they have every single last pedigree under the sun listed for free adoption in the London area. It really makes me mad that these people are able to place these adds to try and con people who want to adopt a kitten that website should be taken down .

I've just highlighted all the "indicator" words that signify these as scams -
Isle of man/scotland - always a very long distance from where they were originally advertised, meaning it would be difficult/impossible to view them before sale (which is what they are counting on).
ship - not a phrase used often in the UK.
by aeroplane - as far as I know, there are no airlines which will carry domestic animals on internal flights within the UK, especially unaccompanied.
zip code - American word. Who do you know in then UK who calls them Zip codes?
had all their claws - declawing is illegal in the UK and has been for a long time.
adoption papers - would be termed registration certificates and/or pedigree by honest breeders.

I am afraid i am one of the gullible ones I was done for £500 pounds by some very clever scammers.Although in my defense they were very very clever I answered an add for pug puppies also went to an address to view the puppies saw them at 5 weeks put a deposit of half the asking price which was the £500 pounds and was told to go back and collect in 3 weeks on a given date when they would be ready and vet checked for collection when I returned to collect my puppy the house I had been to was empty and according to neighbours had been for the past 3 months and the police could do nothing
