I want to change bens insurance from John Lewis to Petplan. Simply because I've heard petplan is the best and John Lewis hike the price up every year.

Do you need to claim for something to be pre existing?

For example, bens been to vet with a poorly tum and has been given some probiotic stuff. If he has a stomach problem in future I claim for would I be unable to cause he has a poorly tum on his file?

I want to change while he's in the clear.

Pretty much all companies increase every year.

No. If it's on your vet record it's a pre-existing condition.

It's very likely they would refuse a claim.

Anything that starts before the insurance.

Some insurances will not cover an ongoing condition after the first year.

Anything that is diagnosed as a condition the animal was born with including hereditary conditions.

My dog has a skin condition it was diagnosed and treated before I had a chance to put any pet insurance in place. So no insurance company will cover him for this condition because its a pre-exsiting condition.

these insurance companies are very cunning!....mines is a human example...been attending hospital for 27yrs with pre-cancerous cells....insurance companies take on this....how long have you had cancer? em i dont! next....bronchitis one bout.....insurance companys take....how long have you had asthma? eh?....tennis elbow, treated once by dr....insurance companys take....how long have you had arthritis? what? i am arthritic? cancerous? asthmatic? attend colposcopy every 6 months thats all. basically anything they can wriggle out of!

We have recently made to large claims with 2 different company's for the same pup. We had 4 weeks free kennel club insuraunce (claimed ÂŁ600) but after quoting ÂŁ154 a month we went for life cover with axa for ÂŁ26. When we had to claim after just a month (claimed over ÂŁ1k) with axa I called to warn them about having previously claimed via kc insuraunce. They said as long as its a different condition all would be fine. A new insurer would want to see full medical history upon a new claim. I guess that's why they say "showing signs of illness" or suffering from a pre existing condition. I'd call and ask.
