Right - most of our cats have at least one truly bizarre thing they will eat if they can, whether they steal it or obtain it by honest means as a treat.

What are the weird things your cat(s) will eat?

My list is quite long as it's for 6 cats:

Peas & sweetcorn
Beetroot
Mayonnaise
Toast
Biscuits (would tear the packet open himself)
Fairy cakes
Pizza crust or cheese in preference to ham and other meaty toppings
Toffee (neighbour's cat - pulled such a funny face but came back wanting more)
Marsh mallow (carefully selected white one and ate it whole)
Worming tablets (yes thought it was a treat and wanted more)
Lemon cheesecake home made of course
Yoghurt but only licked from a finger, won't touch it in a dish
and one who would not drink water unless some veg had been cooked in it!

I should add I do not feed my cats sugary or carb foods, most of these items were pilfered, some then given very rarely in tiny amounts, the really dangerous ones ie toffee and marsh mallow were one-off thefts.

My long departed black and white cat Jimmy was a bit of a scavenger. We once had a night out and came home with a Friday late night take away curry, ate it on little tables in the sitting room and promptly fell asleep on the sofa after eating it, watching TV. When we woke up the leftovers had been demolished.

The litter tray for the next few days though ...

Drinking out of the toilet. I've tried several different water bowls in case he was objecting to them, but no joy. Think this may have been his usual drinking method before I took him in, in which case I'm just going to have to live with it I guess. Makes bleaching the toilet a bit of a mare though, have to sit on the seat and patiently read a book for 10 mins before rinsing, rinsing and rinsing...

His favourite snack is without doubt a big, fat, juicy spider. My little hero!

Easy solution. Put the toilet seat lid down. A cat drinking water from a bowl containing pee and poo particles, no matter how many times it's rinsed, simply isn't acceptable. He'll drink from a bowl if you give him time and put it nice and far from his food. Either that or buy him a fountain.

Two of mine love curry. The rest of my list includes baked beans, cheesy doritos, chips, bacon, cheese... Like the OP, these were either stolen or one off gifts in tiny amounts. It's never a good idea to feed this sort of stuff regularly.

Yeah... drinking toilet water is never going to be a good thing. Don't just live with it, get him his own big fountain or bucket or whatever.

Maybe it'd be fun to buy a brand-new toilet, just for him. Block the pipe and fill it up with fresh clean water. Put it in the living room as a conversation piece. A little fish tank pump would keep the water flowing if he likes that sort of thing. ;)

I had one who would do this given the chance. We didn't have fountains in those days but we used to leave a tap dripping for her and she accepted that. Then we discovered she loved vegetable cooking water so we would keep it by for her and give when it cooled. A few drops of tinned tuna water (spring water not brine) or a small piece of fresh meat in the bottom of the bowl, maybe. Some cats don't like the chemicals we put in water so anything to disguise the taste might be worth trying.

Gorgeous Libby loves a curry!!! But it doesn't really love her back, if you get what I mean...
I know exactly what you mean :arf: i had a cat who used to love curry and chilli-con-carne!
weirdly with the curry she would leave the meat and eat the sauce
if i wasn't super vigilant she would soon have it off your plate lol

Harry will be sat on your chest if you eat wotsits or cheesy biscuits.

Sophie will pinch freshly popped popcorn. Although she chews and plays with it but never swallows it!

Sabrina will hound you for smoked salmon :D

Potter like insects, whipped cream, ice cream (but only Haagen Dazs, he won't touch another brand, he's so spoiled...), sometimes pasta, once he wanted a piece of cantaloupe. I've catched him nibbling cake and KFC chicken.
My long departed Tyger ate cheesecake and potato chips, once I saw him eating litter from his box.
And I've heard about a cat who was mental about pickled cucumbers.

Tuna salad coated with with honey parsley vinegar and olive oil dressing I'm assuming it's the honey that atrcts her to it, as she doesn't even like tuna . Left over roast turkey salad even though she has a bit of roast turkey in her food bowl. Raw meat that I'm preparing even though I've put some in her food bowl and she never eats more than a few chunks.

I don't think my current two eat anything weird but have had ones that loved blue cheese, marzipan, prawn or chili crackers and Christmas cake. When my mum was a child her cat used to steal beetroot, so I'm told. One of my son's cats loves curry.

Since getting Bob he has taken a fancy to various things but only once or twice including bacon, ham, yogurt from a teaspoon but the most memorable one was ice cream, and he would get on my lap and fight me for it, some time later he wouldn't touch it.

Maisie likes to have a chance to try whatever we have, but rarely wants to eat it once it is offered, she just likes to sniff it.

She does like crisps, fries, salad cream, cheese, butter, ham, and crispy duck, she is not allowed the cheese, butter and salad cream but a tiny bit of the others is OK, once she has a taste she leaves us in peace. She will lick salad cream off a plate if I am not careful, and I once forgot to put the cheese away and found her on the worktop licking a groove into it. She licks butter of the crusts of discarded sandwiches.

I've got something else to add now  . whilst I was clleaning out her litter tray this afternoon she got up onto my kitchen work tops and took a plastic container that had a tiny bit of leek potato and parsley soup in it toolk it into the living room and was licked it up then played with the container!
