My kids say i am OCD about the animal smells in my house .... but with 7 cats and 2 dogs I daren't risk the smell ... I have all the remedies, but still there are patches and corners that smell - I don't htink you really ever get rid of it.

I have just vacuumed, deflea'd and febreezed the whole house this morning !

If it gets rid of the smell a bit more than it is now, then I'll be happy! Lol
We will save up for a new carpet eventually but it wont be for a while!

 

Try the bio solution and the vinegar or alcohol first. This may be enough and you can always buy the stuff I mentioned if it doesn't work properly.

 

It wont matter what you used on the carpet if it is soaked into the floor boards, pull the carpet away from the floor where the cat have pee'd. Then wash the floorboard or concrete floor what ever you have got with biological washing ppwder and then take the excess off with old towels, poor a some vinegar over the area and pat it down with paper towels, leave the area to dry before laying the carpet back down again. then wipe the underlay in the same way, then last of all re wash the carpet in that area and leave to dry, spray over with Freebreeze Pets one. Hey presto no more smells :thumbup:

 

Try a spray called urine off! It works really well, I used a lot when I was litter training the rabbits. It doesn't just cover the smell like other sprays but breaks down the acid crystals that make the smell (same thing that leaves white marks in litter trays). Its a bit pricy compared to otehr sprays but from experience it does really work. You just need to spray the carpet and let it soak for a bit them dap it dry to pull the wet and dried urine out of the carpet. Most cleaners just cover the smell but do nothing to get rid of the acid crystals, which actually cause the smell.

 

I was watching kim and aggie the other day and i am sure they said use just vinigar and water it will take the amonia out of the wee??? check this though
