(Stole this idea from the cat chat but it looked really fun so... :Bag:p)

(Not sure if we have one of these threads already but-) Ever wanted to make a new thread on random doggy stuff but felt it didn't belong in a thread?
I'll start -
A few days ago on our walk, Cookie managed to roll herself in loaaads of mud, and then decided to run up to everybody we passed in the woods and ask for a cuddle! :Arghh I put her lead on after a while because it was getting too embarrassing :p It took ages to wash it all off afterwards too!

This morning I took her to Pets@Homes and bought her some food that we haven't tried before - it looks quite good and she likes the chicken. Has anyone tried it? It's called Natures Menu Adult - Here's what it looks like-

Also Bonus photo of a big stick she found this morning :D

Bit of a random one but I am hoping someone can explain. We were out this morning and walked past 2 vislas, know I know they aren’t friendly and the owner crossed the road but my boy had 1 bark (big difference as normally it’s a full on melt down) but as they walked by he lowered his head down. As soon as they went he was fine again.
does anyone know what this behaviour meant?

Without seeing the entirety of his body language it's hard to say, but my guess is that he saw that the vizslas were uncomfortable and lowered his own head in an appeasement "I'm not a threat to you" gesture.

It poured with rain the whole day on Sunday and the only time the boys went out (reluctantly) was to have a super quick pee.

As you can imagine after all that rain the ground was sodden and even worse his favourite place to dig in mainly clay. Impossible to wash off so all I can do is dry him as best I can, then give him a good brush when the mud is dry.

He's off to the groomer next week and poor Rita is going to have a fit when she sees him!

After a full weekend of stress with fireworks going off around us every night we took Dan out to his favourite squirrel chasing haunt for a walk this afternoon.
We only saw one other lady with her dog, sitting on our favourite bench ,the dogs said a nice polite hello, we had a chat and we carried on, it's only a small area but enclosed so we let him off lead to explore , he was sniffing, darting about peeing etc and failed to spot the only squirrel there! Coming out of the wood though he did spot another squirrel dart behind a large tree and out of sight up the tree, by this time he was on the flexi lead, I followed to get him to come, he went round the tree with me following and after four or five circuits of the tree with the flexi at full stretch, he was persuaded that the squirrel was gone and we could move on. My OH was in stitches. It was a lovely couple of hours we all came home in a good mood.

Saw a pair of Briards today on the beach @Happy Paws2 ! One golden and one black. We saw them from a distance walking on the dunes, then accidentally bumped into them as they were hiding behind a dune as we were coming back onto the beach. Bronte found them as he ran ahead and we couldn't see them tucked right away under the dunes, but I heard the commotion! I don't think they were from around here as people don't tend to walk reactive dogs on the beach because there are so many dogs milling around, and the black male had kicked off and Bronte was bouncing around barking and winding him up. I called him away and apologised (the people were fine, they knew that there was no way I'd have seen them), and had a very quick chat asking about breed and saying how lovely and unusual they were.

Are you in touch with his siblings? I heard through a Facebook group from a lady who owns Zaks sister, only 2 in the litter. She is a laid back grey friendly with all breeds. She didn't race so hasn't a high prey drive . We have the black sheep of the family :ROFLMAO:

Some agility things from this week. Little Pix is starting to get it, it took her along time to realise she could do more than one thing at once, and she needed to ‘look’ for the next obstacle but it’s definitely clicking more. She still gets distracted (as you can see) but she’s much better at reengaging.

Ted was having a bit of a sensitive week (he does sometimes) so he started off a bit steady but got into it :)

They did better runs off camera but isn’t that always the way!

That’s a shame! Most people in our classes are there for fun, but some do compete or have aspirations of competing! Our trainer has done very well competing so we are taught as if we all might go competing one day haha. But it’s still good fun!

Thankfully Chase isn't bothered by fireworks. We had them for about 2 weeks before bonfire night and for a few nights after.
He was bothered by the idiot who decided to ride a dirt bike (motorcycle) around our fields one day last week. Saw him, avoided him, then ran into him 3 more times! There's a lot of green space here, but it's still a residential area. Dogs walking, people walking, joggers, etc. Haven't seen him since, so maybe he got the idea from the look I gave him...lol
He got a good run at the private field on Saturday. Chasing his Scooby balls. Like Loki, they are his favourite. He only gets them at the field, otherwise he destroys them...
And this morning it was bucketing down rain. He's still damp, I had to hang my coat in the porch, and I'm in my sweatpants because my jeans are soaked from the bottom of my coat to the top of my wellies. :ROFLMAO:
Of course it's stopped raining now...

Had an absolutely awful walk with Ted today! He has been soooo good the last couple of weeks, I even made a video of him yesterday being such a good, engaged lad in the woods.

Today, he was being good so I let him off, he was playing with Pix, playing with me, being good, then he saw a something and took off… I don’t panic at this point as, while I don’t like him doing it, he normally comes back 5/10 mins, maybe 15 max. Sometimes less….

well today he was gone for an hour. AN HOUR! he’s never been gone that long even when he was at his worst! He had his tracker on so I could see where he was and he was just going round and round the woods. He ran past us 4 times and even came back (ish) a couple of times but spotted another squirrel before I could get to him. Honestly I felt like such a bad dog owner. And I started to think what am I going to do!! He wasn’t lost but I couldn’t get to him to get him back.

anyway, he’s a little map of his adventures, safe to say he is back on lead for the foreseeable…. View attachment 593564

In good news… Pixel ran with him the first 5 mins and then came back of her own accord and stayed with us the whole time. Good girl.
Guess who’s favourite dog in the house tonight.

Oh naughty Teddy! (but good girl Pixel). At least he didn't actually bugger off anywhere and just decided that squirrel hunting was his chosen activity.
