My dog has had agorophobia for about a week.. It was caused by one if those large black air ship things by the army headquarters.. It was hovering above the building. Didn't think she would notice it but she did.. She normally like a sloth ( Bassett hound) but she made it home in 2 minutes when she spotted it..
Don't know what to do as she's holding herself all day, only goes out after dark, about 9.00pm..

Hello.. Funny you should think that about the car..
Last night i was thinking of a solution, and came up with the same. Lol
Today we will try it,,
i sat her down today and told her "today is a new day, and u and i will go to the arboretum." Lol..
Well nothing ventured nothing gained.
She is a nervous dog anyway. Due to the fact i think when she was 4 her family took her to a shelter.. So think she believes i will do the same.. Other than that she is a very loveable cuddly girl.
Thank u

No expert either but if she will only go out at night perhaps you could start taking her out a little earlier when its dusk but not daylight...as the nights draw out you could slowly bring each walk earlier until you are actually walking in the day light and she realises she's not going to see the big black thing again.
She must have got me to take her out at least 8 times yesterday. Harnessed her up 8times, only for us to reach the door, .. As soon as i opened the door she shot back inside,, sigh!!!
But coaxed her into the car this morning and took her to the arboretum.. Great all the way round. Got home, out of the car, and she ran to the front door in a panic.. her little legs were like pistons!!!

Actually I think I have the solution.....not sure if you've been following this thread

http://www.petforums.co.uk/threads/this-is-one-of-the-best-responses-yet.423374/

But you could take a leaf out of the experts book and tie your girl to a floating black blimp and she would get over her fear instantly.......

OK sorry that was in bad taste :(

but seriously I'm really glad to hear you at least got her out of the house and in the car, then rom the car for a walk and back......It must be something she associate with the area round the house than anywhere else as you seem to indicate once she's away she's ok

Sounds like she's specifically worried at home then.

Will she let you carry her out? Maybe carry her out and when you feel her relax put her down and continue the walk. Then gradually reduce the distance you go before you put down.

Is there a treat she goes absolutely batty for? Maybe a trail of those out the door.

Sounds like it'll be lots and lots of baby steps but I'm sure she'll get there xxx

She's absolutely gorgeous!
