Does anyone on the forum had experience with this breed of dog?
I have come across a rescue and have noted an interest in it, just wondered if anyone has any advice good and bad?

Yes i own a japenese spitz she is 5 now and never been a days trouble she is a joy 2 own, they are quite rare not many breeders of them, i got mine from a breeder in devon,i don't think u will b dissapointed if u get one.
What I have read so far regarding the Japanese Spritz seems promising, how do you manage to keep its coat in condition? Looks like it would take some work?

I must admit the one I knew was male and very oversexed belonging to a semi disabled man that could not control it. It was just such a bl**dy menace and so pushy. Everybody had trouble with it
It is a male (unneutered) that is up for adoption, he is a year old, I am not sure weather to pursue it at the moment? He does tick all the boxes for the ideal dog that I am looking to get?
What do you think Rona, I can't think straight at the moment and have no one to talk to regarding this, I need a dog to fill in a hole in my life, in which I am falling further down everyday.

the coat is not that bad 2 b honest exept when in shed i just pluck the loose fur out as they have a coat like a husky then but the brush through it she does not get knotty at all and they onl;y come in one color which is solid white they are a bit like a smaller version of the samoyd,My girl is a happy little soul and i would not hesitate in having another it is very not like them 2 be aggressive at all.

Don't know much about them, other than what I've read - however all I've read has been positive.
All along the lines of- a friendly dog, quick to learn and active.
(the exception being can be dominant if allowed - but that applies to any dog I think.)
Sounds ideal for your family - will you start agility with him? I hear they are quite good.

Thats good to know that their coat is easy enough to look after, do you have some pics for all to see of your wee lass? :)

Yes Fleur if we are lucky enough to have the dog I will be doing agility classes with him and "King Dog" :D

Were you not after a gun dog Pets Paws? Its a bit of a channge isnt it?
Yes the Gun dog is for my boys father, who is looking to going back to keepering? We left the highlands 3yrs ago for him to pursue his Helicopter Flying career, he got his dream job but has now realised he preferred the country life more and is looking to go back to the country hence the search for a gun dog as he does not have the time at the moment to train one himself.

Lesson learnt - beware when you have a big career change, it can split a family, we are now seperated but on good terms.

Whatever dog he does end up with will be a big part of my life to as the boys will be spending time with it:):)

The grass is always greener on the other side "not"! :(

We had one years years back and he was such a darling! We called him Prince!

i can't give you any advice however because we had it when i was in my pre -teens in another country before we moved here and i don't remember anything of him much really - we only had him for a year and then we had to move here and give him away, thankfully we had a good friend who was happy to take him. They are really good guard dogs and if they are trained properly they are very good around other people too.

We have german spitz and they are lovely to live with, can be vocal on times but only when someone is around, very easy to train and coats are a doddle good brush through once a week, when they blow their coats we try to do them every day otherwise it just covers the floor

TinyTashi can do heelwork to music with hers, obedience and agility albeit for fun but guess given the time he would be really good at them

I breed Japanese Spitz and I also own quite a few German Spitz, yes they can be a bit yappy, but they are not nasty in any way, and if they are then blame the owners, they are a joy to have and train, my daughter has just competed at Agility in Crufts this year with her Japanese Spitz who is 5 years old and also competed last year with her, their coats do need a regular brush but they keep themselves clean most of the time.
It is very rare that a Japanese Spitz ever comes up for adoption so if you are interested in owning one of this breed, read up on it and go ahead and adopt, you won't be dissapointed.

I have decided to withdraw my interest, I think my Nell would not tolerate another dog in the house at the moment, she is in season at 14yrs:confused:

Looks like they make an ideal family pet? maybe look at this breed again when the time is right?

Just to let you know I can't get access to your website?

Aww, that's a shame. You have to put the lovely Nell first though.
The right dog for 'KingDog' is just around the corner.
