Hello I wonder if anyone could advise please? I need to use a grooming arm to keep my dogs still whilst grooming / drying them and don't know which is best to use, single long arm which will go over my grooming table or an H Bar . My dogs are Shih Tzu's so not a large breed to restrain. Does anyone have any experience of these arms at all? Many thanks .

I don't think its a grooming arm you need, its a belly strap. There are also hammocks which are more supportive and put less strain on the groin though I have never used a hammock. I also prefer to avoid belly straps unless the dog is so scatty the benefits of the belly strap outweigh the negatives.

If they are your own dogs, it is far better to teach them to stand.

Also, ensure your h bar and noose are at the correct height, the dog should be able to move their head but there shouldn't be enough slack for them to walk around the table, a long noose will encourage them to move around.

Hope this helps.

Just re-read your post. If you aren't currently using any restraints on your table, a single arm and noose will suffice. An h-bar will allow you to turn the dog around and clip the noose the other end of the table rather than you walking around the table and will allow you to use a noose and a belly strap.

Thank you so much for your reply it is helpful. Only thing I have now realised is that my table is only a 70cm one and the H Bar's are to fit a minimum 110cm, which would mean having to buy a new table as well. So I think I might be better having a Third Arm to hold the Blaster Dryer then I will have both hands free to help with keeping them upright. I used the dryer on them for the first time on the weekend and they were quite good except they wanted to sit down all the time so if I have both hands free that should help.

Yes freeing both hands will definitely help. Do work on teaching them to stand too. And while ever you can work on them.sitting or laying, let them as they will be more relaxed and will enjoy it more :)
