Dangers of Chicken Wings with Missing Teeth?

I used to give my Watson chicken wings, but stopped when I started conducting my own diet trial on him for the last few months. I really want to start giving them to him again as he doesn't appear to have a problem with chicken, and he has poor teeth and gums.

The thing is, he had some back teeth removed from one side last year plus a canine from the other side, and when I've watched him eat a wing in the past he only eats on the side with the missing canine. The wing seems to get stuck in his teeth and he has to prise it off with his paw. He also seems to swallow quite large pieces.

My question is, does his lack of a full set of teeth make eating things like chicken wings more of a danger than normal? Is it better to try something else? Hunks of meat don't really work as he will swallow pretty big pieces without much chewing.

Here is a question. Do you want him to eat raw food for raw food sake or to aid dental health? If you just want him to have some raw food, then instead of feeding him chunks of meat you could try and offer him thin slivers of meat instead - like shortish pieces of fettucini. Over time you could try to make the chunks bigger and shorter to see whether he will start chewing again with a little practice.

Are you brushing his teeth too?

The main reason for the wings was dental. I'm not ready to fully go down the raw route yet, but I'm leaning more and more to the idea of at least giving up to 20% raw meat via the supermarket. The long slivers sounds like a good idea - will definitely give that a go!

I don't brush their teeth as I got them as adult rescues and feel it would be difficult and stressful for them - they run a mile when I just open the cupboard with the Advocate in! I do give them PlaqueOff and they lick Logic Gel from my finger - though I know this is far from ideal.
