If you have a fever the difference between your body and the ambient temperature is increased so you feel cold, hence people with a fever often shiver. Think of a cat in warm weather or by a fire, they tend to lie stretched out. When it's cool they curl up to conserve heat. I'm guessing a hunched up cat can be a sign of fever because of this trait.
