(Stole this idea from the cat chat but it looked really fun so... :Bag:p)

(Not sure if we have one of these threads already but-) Ever wanted to make a new thread on random doggy stuff but felt it didn't belong in a thread?
I'll start -
A few days ago on our walk, Cookie managed to roll herself in loaaads of mud, and then decided to run up to everybody we passed in the woods and ask for a cuddle! :Arghh I put her lead on after a while because it was getting too embarrassing :p It took ages to wash it all off afterwards too!

This morning I took her to Pets@Homes and bought her some food that we haven't tried before - it looks quite good and she likes the chicken. Has anyone tried it? It's called Natures Menu Adult - Here's what it looks like-

Also Bonus photo of a big stick she found this morning :D

I had an incident with Zak today. Advice from anyone needed. OH always eats lunch at the table but I prefer a tray on my lap. OH had cooked Italian meatballs. I wasn't paying attention so Zak must have thought it was his chance to swipe one. Which he did.It was too hot for him to eat so he kept dropping it. I stood over him telling him to leave it. No chance. He stood over it and l thought I'm not going to win this he has teeth, so not going to get into a confrontation. I gave in and he ate it. Today I sat with my lunch on my lap. He sort of skipped over to me looking mischievous. I lowered my voice because I have a very quiet voice and told him" Bed"
He went to his bed. I just don't know what to do when he already has his prize. I maybe should post this in behaviour but think I'll reach more people here. OH says eat at the table but I don't want to.

Don't worry about it! Life happens!

I always eat my evening meal sitting in the armchair whilst watching the TV. Every evening I have two pitiful lookng, apparently starving, Schauzers sitting in front of me watching every mouthful I take. If their noses get too close to my plate I'll tell them "Ah-ha"! On the few occasions they have taken food I've shamed them by asking them what they did and aren't they ashamedNot that it helps!

Both of them are very good at not touching food, even when they find it when they're out walking. I've always trained my dogs from being puppies not to pick up or eat anything by telling them "Yucky" which basically means "don't touch it" or "drop it".

I wouldn’t have taken it off him … you snooze you lose! ;)

No point creating a drama over it imo.

What you did the second time, I would have done … but you can’t blame him for trying :ROFLMAO:

Swapping for something equally (or preferably more) desirable is preferable, but without something to hand I’d just let it go (if it’s not a danger).

First and only time this happened with Jack in the early days … he had a bone for the first time on the landing … teenage son came out of his room … Jack stood over bone and grumbled … teenage son “yeh whatever” .. went to bathroom … back to room (basically ignoring Jack and not putting him under pressure) … no drama.

Thereafter Jack never guarded anything from us.

But … maybe eat at the table, or put Zak to bed with a chew to distract him and get back on track.

Don't beat yourself up @margy. Even with a good drop with food, after having a dental and several teeth out my old girl Gem saw a sandwich on the floor after I was walking home from the vets and scoffed the lot. She also did the same with a dead bird, crunchy the poor thing whilst walking.

We had only had Koda a week when I put a sandwich at the table for my husband, who was sat at the table. He then decided instead of eating he needed to do something else and Koda quick as a flash stole the sandwich and ate it as if she had never eaten anything before in her life. Husband was totally to blame. He did find it funny. She's not the only one of my dogs have stolen food. It happens. I am sure everyone has seen the dogs running through tempting food for recall and the dogs gobble up everything on route!

I'm so proud of my little Sausage, we had training tonight and he isn't that comfy around other dogs but has been doing really well, but this evening he did a lovely recall straight to me and still kept coming even when the GSD that was to the left of me lost her cool and started barking and my boy just kept on coming to me, I thought he was going to turn and go under our chair but no he was laser focused on his piece of liver cake in my hand 🥰

So Sausage has now been in residence for a whole year, although he seems to have been here forever, but in the last week he finished his KCGC puppy course (we only just scraped in and went mainly as moral support for a friend) but he was very good and it did him good to be around a lot of much bigger dogs, we had 2 Cockerpoos, 1 Whippet, 1 GSP, 1 Collie, 2 GSD's and 1 very lively Doberman.

Today he has been groomed and it is exactly a year since he met the groomer (she is mobile so came to do Percy and met Sausage, not that he was groomed) so picture spammage as always.

Percy

Post grooming bally pic, he is only allowed this ball in the absence of the Sausage as they squabble over it

IT HAS GOT TO GO! Free to a good home - I'll even pay the postage!

The ingratitude ...... I risk my life driving 50 kms through a terrible thunderstorm to take the wretch to the "kutyakozmetika" - dog beauty parlour and get soaked to the skin taking IT from the car to the salon. I then wait 3 hours whilst he's being beautified before the hour's drive back home.

And how does he repay all my love and money? By going outside and digging a ruddy great hole in the lawn! Just look at him ...... mud everywhere and no sign of remorse from the wretch ...... SO ..... IT must go!

Anyone interested PM me .....

I didn't post this earlier but enough time has passed to allow me to post. In June the man who owns the kennels where the greyhounds rent gave them notice to quit. 11 dogs to foster or find homes for. A nightmare. We rehomed most and thankfully a new boarding kennel agreed to rent to the trust. 7 kennels were specially built for the greyhounds. It's opposite a nature reserve. Today I was on my own as the other ladies couldn't come. I decided instead of walking 7 dogs around the feild because the staff will, I'd take 2 easy ones into the reserve and spend some time with them, at least an hour getting to know them it helps in the rehoming. First was Sheamus. He is so easy and not fussed by other dogs he kept looking at me for reassurance and very affectionate. He managed the wooden path well. I remember Belle wouldn't walk over a path like that. The second a little bitch called Jo. 3 young spaniels ran up to her and she couldn't give a fig. Some photos of Sheamus. Visitors are coming on Thursday I'm rooting for Sheamus

So we have had Koda a few months now. She was quite people shy... I think she's had too much exposure now.
Yesterday we had carpet fitters in. They both said they were dog lovers and animal lovers in general. Asked what dogs we had after hearing the welcoming committee bark. Explained, said I had a pomeranian cross husky. To which one of them said his wife wanted one of them. I said I will show him her when he's finished. So let Koda out the room, I have never seen such a excitable dog at 2 strangers. They both wanted to take her home!

Does anyone remember me looking after Tilly the cockerpoo? I used to have her at mine if her owners were on holiday. I got a msg from her owner could I help because she had booked a break with her children and her husband was going to look after Tilly. Unfortunately her husband got sent away with his job. I said yes of course. Fri eve walk and feed. Sat walk and feed early morning. Dog walker coming at 2 so thought I'd spend some time with her. I sat with a coffee in the garden thinking Tilly could potter. She went to the bottom of the garden. I thought I'd better check on her and she wasn't there  flipping sent me into a panic. I opened the neighbours gate and there she was covered in grass seed. I had to pick it off her in case it got into her ears or eyes. What a tinker. Thank God they're back tomorrow. A picture of her because she's gorgeous
