Dicky tums are not unusual in ex-racing greyhounds.

Maybe a night time biscuit will stave off an empty tum, which can result in a bile vom in the morning?

 

well, I get to spend the whole day worrying coz Heidi is at the vets having a dental.
I know her bloodwork was fine and so is her heart but she is also 14, so old to be having surgery. I kinda had to encourage the vets to do the dental as they were fine with her teeth as 'old dogs seem to manage fine with bad teeth'.
Except I know she struggles now with what she can eat and her teeth do cause her discomfort sometimes. I dont get the logic of just leaving it because they are old....I want her to be old and happy not old and miserable!

Fingers crossed Heidi comes out even better than she went in.
I’ve not come across a vet who wouldn’t do a dental purely based on age.
Bad teeth can cause other complications and not least it’s so painful!

 

Just phoned vet....Heidi is fine!

I can pick her up in a couple of hours. And she will never need to have another dental again.....she now has zero teeth left in her head!!LOL

 

Glad all well and at least she never needs to again. Always nerve wracking.

 

oh dear, I did wonder if Heidi had a derpy stuck out tongue because of the anaesthetic yesterday but nope.....apparently when you lose all your teeth you are awarded a new expression as well!😋

 

ok...attempts at feeding Heidi nice soft, sloppy food to help her new no teeth status has failed miserably....
apparently what she really wants is to eat rock hard kibble, whole!

Dogs generally don't chew their food much anyway, they just break it down in to swallow-able pieces - which kibble already is.
Glad she is doing well and has a good appetite!

Took Penny to a meet-up today, she was the tiniest by far, 7 dogs including her. She had a blast

Hope all is ok with Boxer123 and the boys. Maybe she needed a break for whatever reason? It wouldn’t be the same on PF without boxer updates.

I couldn’t really see anything to indicate why that might be?

 

For those wondering - I’ve just spoken to Boxer123 on insta and she said she’s just having a break from social media right now and she’s ok I asked if I could share with you all.

 

That’s good to hear although I was a bit surprised she deactivated her account, but perhaps she finds it easier out of sight out of mind?

I can't find Alfie anywhere this morning

 

A duvet day for us I think. It's snowing a blizzard and already 3 inches on the ground.

The Schnauzer boys are not amused with all this snow, complaining it ruins their sniffing and makes their noses and paws freezing cold.

 

 

 

Jasper regaining some of his confidence at the park with other dogs in the distance (had an incident with a lurcher a few weeks ago that terrified him and could have really gone south). Proud of my brave boy.


Was carrying him around on and off, when he got nervous/overwhelmed and asked to be picked up. Pretty sure I was being judged by a few of the sensible middle aged men there with their Labradors but anyway.
We don’t normally come here but since he was attacked I’ve had to change our walking locations. Annoys me that I’ve been avoiding our nearest and favourite park because of one irresponsible owner but my priority is his safety and also my own peace of mind.

 

Awww he looks like a happy little chappy! So glad he's feeling more confident.

Had a lovely walk round the lake in the winter sunshine at clumber park yesterday, and met this lovely sheep, he's part of a wider display, there's a trail you can follow to find them, Dan was not impressed!

Yes! You get a map from the visitor centre which will show you locations and there are 12 of them scattered around the park. It's all on the NT website. Nice outdoor activity for the kids although we saw quite a few couples our age engrossed in maps on our way round!
