After much time thinking about it and then forgetting when I'm actually shopping (I shop rarely) I've finally bought some Oat milk........I can't believe how yummy it tastes :) I'll certainly be using it for my summertime drink instead of milk and also on cereals, I should imagine that they will taste even better with Oat milk than real milk :)

Not sure what it's going to taste like in tea, but gonna try :D

I can't see me giving up milk altogether, but I'm certainly going to cut down a lot

I didn't buy this one but in future I shall try to source this because it's produced here :)

One reason is to avoid the cruelty involved in the dairy industry but another is to avoid the health problems many people suffer from consuming dairy products. Something like 70% of adults do not have the enzymes necessary to digest lactose, although more white Europeans do. Dairy has been linked to auto immune conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, MS, Lupus as well as ear and sinus problems and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

Welcome on board Rona :) I love it, although I can't say I like it in tea but I love it so much in coffee I don't mind going without tea. It gives a lovely creamy taste when added to porridge but is equally nice on cold cereal.

There's all sorts of kinds of milk these days, hubby has almond milk on his cereal which he's found stops him getting such bad cattarh. I don't like milk at all and have the merest smidgen in tea, don't drink coffee, I've tried a little of the various milks and don't like them either.

I have decided to try the oat milk as my blood pressure is getting a little high. I don't like soya milk at all and won't buy almond milk due to the air miles. Although the Provamel, which I'm trying, comes from Belgium..... have to see if I can find a British producer if I do like it.

I used to get it for my daughters BF when they lived with us as he is vegan, he also used to sometimes have almond milk too or soya milk sometimes. He didn't use it in drinks though he mostly had black coffee so not sure what its like in drinks.

I've been using oat milk in my coffee for a few months now, after approaching a vegan member on here to ask for ideas, although I use Alpro. I'll be shopping tomorrow and will look out for that brand.

I'd tried a few different alternatives to milk, including soya (I found it OK, and will happily use it on cereals but, in coffee, it always seemed to curdle for me  ), coconut milk ( :Yuck but then, I don't like coconuts) rice milk was OK, but I found it thin and watery. Oat milk, for me, seems to provide the best alternative. Doesn't taste too different in my coffee than cow's milk, and has the right texture. I'd probably use almond milk as an alternative, if I couldn't find oat milk, but I find it flavours my coffee a bit too much, for my liking.

My vegan friend told me the alpro & tesco's soya milk doesn't curdle in coffee, i just assumed all soya milk would be same in that aspect. I only like the unsweetened/wholebean soya in hot drinks. I've tried almond, hazelnut, coconut, rice and I liked the taste of oat milk but it seemed bit more watery in my tea than the soya, but maybe i should try another brand. However the Oatly chocolate milk heated is too damn good.

I have had oat milk for years. I'm intolerant to dairy so it's what I use for porridge and occasionally in tea, when out I have a tiny drop of cow milk in tea and that seems OK and long as people are very careful that's it's only a drop. I use oatly oat milk

I love it on cereal - I have cold oat flakes with berries and oat milk or porridge with it.

out of curiosity what is vegan cheese made from? soya?
Some of the posh ones are made from nuts - soaked cashews to form a cream but most of the ones sold in supermarkets are coconut oil based so high in saturated fat.

Apparently Coconut milk or soya are best for tea and Almond milk for coffee. Oat milk is just for cold stuff, oh and porridge :D
Oat is lovely in hot coffee. Soya in tea is the devils spawn and almond separates in hot coffee :Vomit

I've tried the Chocolate Oat milk it makes lovely hot chocolate! but I didn't like oat milk in tea. (I don't drink coffee). Are different brands of Oat milk different thickness etc? wondering if another brand would work better? Almond and coconut milk is out don't like the taste in tea.

Rice Dream milk from the long life section is my choice. :)

A very slight sweetness which I soon got used to. I don't drink tea, but it works for me in coffee.

I use Sainsbury's Feta style vegan cheese, garlic & herb cream cheese, and violife sliced - all very sparingly. (I was a bit of a cheese addict before ;))

Alpro yoghurts, cream, custard and Belgian dark chocolate desserts - all sparingly as a treat.
