Jasper is a standard poodle and is now 14. Some of you may remember that he was diagnosed with a brain tumour some time ago but has only recently started showing symptoms; episodes (roughly fortnightly) where he staggers around the house panting heavily, sometimes collapsing at the end, which Last around 10 minutes. Afterwards he just carries on as usual! He also has various lumps and bumps, all of which have been tested and shown to be lipomas.
Over the past three or four months I've become aware of a smell of urine in the house. My girl poodle (a year younger than Jasper) has occasional leaks (being spayed) so I put her on incurin (a short course usually does it) but the urine smell continued. Jasper has one lipoma in his groin, which has grown very large, so I've wondered if it is pressing on his bladder, however it is very mobile so I think a full bladder would simply push it out of the way.
Well. This morning the bed the dogs sleep on was soaking. I think it's unlikely to be my girl, as incurin has always worked in the past. Having sniffed both dogs' fur (sorry!) it is definitely Jasper who is whiffy! Obviously we'll be off to the vet tomorrow, but does anyone know of any medication that can help this problem in old dogs please? I'm sure it is happening only when he is asleep. Thanks for reading.
