If you are considering any of the above breeds please do do some research into them and look at whether they would also fit in with your lifestyle! For example we are owned by 2 Siamese.. they are high energy boisterous noisy characters who thrive on human interaction. Great for us but perhaps not so good if you are gone for long periods of time / want a quiet companion!

Google breeders in your area, a breed club or the TICA, GCCF websites for breeder referrals. Some may have retiring breeding cats if you’re not looking for a kitten.

Ocicats aren’t hypoallergenic, as with any cat you would need to allergy test with the cat before bringing them home.

Many with allergies are also fine with moggies.

Can't stress this enough. I don't think any cat breed is truly hypoallergenic, so if you or someone in your family is allergic you would need to test before adopting. I think some of the short haired breeds like siamese end up on lists of hypoallergenic cats because they might have some balinese in their lineage (but don't quote me on that!).

I've also read somewhere (and will try and find a reference) that if you have allergies boy cats can be worse as they carry more of the Fel d protein. (I'm allergic to one of our cats, he's a male Tonkinese. I'm not allergic to our other boy tonkinese, or our girl tonkinese!).

Edit to add: Wikipedia mentions the male vs female thing with allergies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allergy_to_cats
