How often should I feed my 1 year old cat?

So I was feeding my cat 4 times a day until his first birthday (which was last month).
He is on wet food, I feed him Smilla, Natures Menu and HiLife adult food.

Nowadays I feed him 3 times a day (technically 6 times since I half his portions otherwise he won’t finish it). I feed him in the morning, midday, and night time. The portion size I feed him basically equal to 3 nature menu cans in a day. So even ifI’m feeding him another wet food, it will be the same portion size. I hope this makes sense. I just want to know if I’m feeding him the right amount, I don’t want to be over feeding him, I’m not too concerned that I could be under feeding him but I really don’t want to give him too much food.

His first meal is at 6am, and the last meal is around 10/11pm

The timing sounds fine. 3 meals a day is what I always recommend (at least three meals) and meal splitting to keep the food fresh sounds reasonable..

I've always found meal times and routines are fluid. I mean, the way I fed 5 years ago for instance, is not the way I fed for the past two years. And now with only one cat, I was feeding her the same way I've always fed her, but lately she's dropped a meal, so she's now eating one less serving a day (but the same amount, the lost meal is made up for in other meals)

Feeding routines should be flexible.

To answer if he's getting the right amount, we need to know what size are the cans you are feeding? Continue to keep track of how much you are feeding, and keep an eye on his weight. Do you have a scale for weighing him? I weigh them weekly.

I kind of use Natures menu cans to do a rough estimate of how much to feed each serving. It says they hold about 85g online. So even if it isn’t Natures menu, I’ll measure it out by thinking about how much half a natures menu can is and give that amount and then the other amount later. That would be one serving for him.
