why has she not been spayed? and more importantly, why are you letting her out to mate when she hasn't been spayed?

Whether she is or she isn't, I'd have her spayed ASAP.

 

You need to take her to a vet to find out if she's definitely pregnant. We are pretty amazing on this forum but none of us can do a pregnancy test via the Internet.

i think its horrible getting her spayed she is an indoor cat. she got out and she mated twice i went to get her from outside and she ran and i have her inside now. i never let cats out but she did. i love her more than anything. i will help her with anything. ive just figured out how old she is, ive just looked on my calender. she is a year old today. all i want to know if there is a high chance of her pregnant. they can have kittens when cats are a year old and she is a year old today.. i got her when she was a kitten she was 10 weeks. the reason why i got her is because i have anxiety depression and i love cats and i know they help me so i bought her. and she has helped me through alot. she is a caring cat. if she is pregnant i will let her have them. i already have nice homes for the babies they are my relatives. thats if she is pregnant. i just want to know as soon as possible because she is my baby x

 

If it were me making the decision for the cat, I'd get her spayed ASAP- the last think needed is more moggy kittens being born when rescues are full to bursting and beyond with cats & kittens that need homes

 

Wow, you think she was.only mated by one one Tom, yes she must be special.

Make sure you read up on pregnancy and perhaps pay particular attention to the chapter of kittens having kittens.

May I ask why you think spaying your cat would be 'horrible'? Surely it's not more 'horrible' than bringing unwanted, unplanned kittens into the world? Or having your cat go through complications during the birth & need a caesarian? Because it can & does happen. Do you have the money aside for that eventuality?

 

What exactly about spaying is so horrible, in your eyes?

If you let those kittens be born you sign the death sentence of about 5 kittens in rescue homes who cannot find homes.

The kindest thing to do is abort the litter by having her spayed!

Congrats on being responsible for the deaths of many more unwanted animals!

 

listen she is my cat and she is a year old ive ust figured out. she is old enough to have babies. im not getting her spayed. she is my cat i have anxiety depression i dont want to make it worse im sure she will know what to do. she might not even be pregnant. she will be a good mam i know she will. she will be kept indoors after her litter i already have homes for them they are my relatives that are having them. and i know they have a good home to go to.

I have anxiety and depression too and my cats help me so much with that, so I can really understand where you're coming from. It sounds as if you really love your cats and care about them a lot, and I think you'd be doing them both a really big favour by having them spayed/neutered (is Savage a boy or a girl?great names btw!) They will be a lot happier, calmer and healthier if you spay them. As indoor cats, they'll always be trying to get out to mate, and sometimes they'll succeed, as your girl has already. Cats roam a long way while out looking for a mate- they might get lost and not be able to find their way back. As other people have said, your girl is very young to have kittens, and sadly, many things can go wrong, as a lot of us here know only too well. If she does turn out to be pregnant and you don't want to spay her while she's pregnant, would you consider spaying her afterwards?

Well, if you don't want advice then just take her to the vets to find out. We aren't pyschic, we don't know if she's pregnant.

So what happens if you allow your cat to have the kittens assuming she is pregnant. What then???? You don't get her speyed and allow her to carry on calling? You do realise that by doing that you are running the risk of her getting seriously ill with mammary cancer?? how will you deal with that???

I also suffer from anxiety and depression! But one of the first things i did when i rescued them was have them "fixed" even with lack of funds at the time!!!

This sort of thing gets my goat

Seen too many young cats die from lack of homes

Why not now? I don't understand why you don't get her spayed now, she doesn't need to have a litter.

It's not about whether people are understanding & saying what you want to hear. The reality is there are too many cats being born & not enough homes for them. Don't be part of the problem, when you have a choice to be part of the solution by spaying your cat.

:cryin: And she might die during the labour because i cant see them calling the vet out, out of ours if things do go wrong.

Strong possibility considering her age.

As long as people like this exist, we shall always require rescue homes And piles of dead cats.

 

I'm sure you really do care for your cat so do try to take the advice given to you here & do some reading on the other threads, there is a lot to learn and it will help you make the best decisions for your lovely cat

You will also understand why some people get upset at things like this, it is only because they care for cats so much. I don't want you to think people are being unreasonable.

Your cat is not a human. It is clear that you love her very much but regardless of what you think if she has a litter you will be putting her through unnecessary pain, suffering and anguish to have a litter. All animals (humans included) suffer pain when giving birth. Humans are at least able to have pain control. Your cat isn't.....and that's if everything goes well.

Once she has nurtured and loved her babies for long enough to enjoy having them around, they will then be taken from her and given to your friends/family. Its probably fair to say that she won't see them again.

So think about it very carefully, who are the kittens for? Are they for you, or for her?

Please consider getting her spayed now. If you choose not to, you need to make sure you read up as much as you can and educate yourself with all eventualities of difficult pregnancy, difficult birth, rejection, deformaties, etc because all are a possibility.
