Head collars - which one?

Which one do you use?
Pics ?
Have you used others & prefer one over the other ?

Indi-dog one fastens at the back of head but others fasten under the chin, which way is 'better' ?

We used a gentle leader on Bob for class on Tuesday (belongs to the trainer) & he walked lovely on it and I found it a lot easier to teac LLW compared to what it's like on a normal collar/harness. Not sure I'm keen on the simple strap design.. Doesn't exactly scream comfortable but he didn't show any discomfort whilst wearing it so maybe I'm just being soft? :)

I'm sure I've asked this before but couldn't find my old thread !

I've used the Gentle Leader, Halti and Canny Collar. Found the Canny Collar absolutely useless, the attaching at the back of the neck didn't seem to give any better control than a collar. Halti was fine for Rupert, rode up into Shadows eyes. Gentle Leader seemed the best of the 3 but Spen hates all of them equally.

I've used the halti, the kumfi dogalter and a dogmatic.
The halti Thai could easily slip and I found it rode up into his eyes.

The kumfi I got to go under his muzzle. It works for us, but I wouldn't be happy about using it full time as although I liked it originally it is easy to slip and I'm not 100% sure on the design.

The dogmatic by far is the best I have used. If fitted correctly it doesn't move on the face at all. It doesn't clamp the jaw shut if they pull, although it can restrict how much they open their mouths so larger toys can be a struggle to pick up.

My favourite by miles is the Dogmatic - strong, durable, easy to fit, comfortable, doesn't rub, doesn't ride into the dogs eyes, doesn't clamp the mouth shut and gives fantastic control. I don't use them day-to-day but Oz and Harvey have one each that they wear for lead walking in busy areas (on the very rare occasions we do it) just for peace of mind as they're obviously far stronger than I and they give me more confidence than a regular collar.

We use a dogmatic for Beau, again it gives me more control over him in busy areas (eg when first entering a busy class or at a show, etc where he's more aroused/excited). I find it doesn't restrict him particularly, and he's not upset by wearing it, but it gives me some peace of mind where extra control is needed

Will attach a pic when on real computer (photobucket playing up on tablet)

I've used Gentle Leader and Halti, both secondhand finds. Flossie likes the Halti and is fine with it (though can sometimes get the nose loop off), but Fly hates the parts that go down the sides of her mouth, and is better with the Gentle Leader because of that. The Gentle Leader stays put better.

However, the thing I dislike about both is that they pull the dog's head to the side. With growing dogs I wasn't happy about that, so I invented the Uncanny Halter, which is a figure-of-8 type that divides so it clips on behind the dog's head, and the other bit goes behind the head like a horses reins, only of course much shorter, so any pull is distributed equally both sides. It only tightens around the nose if the dog pulls, doesn't ride up into the eyes and has fleece padding for comfort.
