Yesterday I was chatting to an old boy outside the village shop, I just said " good morning" and smiled and so we got chatting, He just wanted someone to chat to and actually said " its rather lovely to hear someone say good morning to me"

So, this will be a thread where we can just say good morning to each other and share whatever we want to share.

Purdey’s not feeling at her best tonight. Her dental went well though they found she had two teeth missing . No idea where they’ve gone. When we picked her up after lunch and the rest of the afternoon, she was whining and whimpering. I phoned the vets before they closed to see if this was normal and they said it could be the anaesthetic or her jaw and gums might be aching. She’s also had an injection for her itching. Anyway, she’s been lying quietly on the sofa all evening. They gave us a tin of Hills recovery food and she’s eaten some of that. I think I may be sleeping on the kitchen sofa tonight and, hopefully, she’ll feel brighter in the morning. Total cost with no insurance £933 😫 and there was me thinking this was a simple procedure 🙄.
Poor Purdey, hope she’s feeling better by tomorrow 😿

Morning all, dark out there. Funny sleep and weird dreams again.

Yesterday? Few bits done but not enough as my foot was very very bad. Today? Just work - I’m on my own again, which is annoying as you can’t actually get anything done before the next query comes in.

Poor Purdey @Charity hope she slept (and you, too). I wish we could talk to them.

Hope Izzie and Effie are both alright @Ali71 @huckybuck

Well @Cully it looks calmer in ankle land but I’d still get it checked out. I know nobody wants to go to hospital but you really should, especially if you have bony tenderness when you poke it.

Lovely Ringo photo @Ringypie grand old man that he is :)

Right. Best think about donning the royal blue polyester. I’m going to try to find out today if I can where I am in the operation list. I’m not trying to pull it forward or anything, just trying to find out so we can make plans at work.

Have a happy Fri-YAY all of you, have as good a day as you’re able.

Morning everyone isn’t it dark this morning!
Ringy’s busy stuffing his face and I’m tired. I woke at 5 and went back to sleep so when my alarm went a short time later I was sound asleep.
Just work for me today then it’s the weekend.
I was looking at Cosmo’s baby photos last night, it was his gotcha day yesterday and I miss my little man 🌈. I like to think he and Flint have been reunited to cuddle and play like they always used to.
Meanwhile this morning little Indy was so cute squeaking at me for cuddles but he always waits until I’m rushing around getting ready. I’m sure he does it on purpose to delay me!

Poor Purdey @Charity I hope you have all managed to get some rest
Hope you have a good day at work @Mrs Funkin

Good morning. Certainly dark when I got up, don't like it. It's a gloomy day too which doesn't help.

I slept on the sofa with Purdey last night, must say I slept better than I do in bed. Must do it more often :D . She's feeling much better this morning, been stealing her Dad's shoes, a favourite pastime, had her breakfast OK. She's on antibiotics for the next week and has a check up after that.

Not a lot on today, got to pick up OH's prescription and might go out for a coffee.

@Cully, glad your foot is looking better. Don't overdo it today.
@BarneyBobCat, Barney will have been be ticking off the days and pleased to see you later. Glad you had a lovely time.
@Ringypie, lovely memories of dear Flint and Cosmo.
@Mrs Funkin, hope your workday goes quickly so you'll soon be back home with Rupert.
@TonyG, hope you're feeling better now.

OK, time for breakfast.

Have a good Friday all and enjoy something nice, especially the birthday girl, @Ali71.

Morning all. Sun is out at the moment even though it's supposed to be cloudy! I'll take it though! Boring day at work yesterday and I left early with a headache that got steadily worse on the way home. I think it was just because I was so tired, I struggled to stay awake after lunch at work. Went to pilates early evening, my goodness it was hard, probably the hardest class I've done. I still had a headache so I wonder if that's why I found it so hard? The instructor did say it was a hard class though and the other 2 there also found it hard. Surprisingly I'm not stiff at all today even though glutes, quads, shoulders and abs were all screaming at me during the class. I just ache a bit, not really any worse than normal. I was really pleased that I managed the lunge series we did on both legs without having to put a hand down to catch my balance now and again. My balance must be improving at last.
I got a decent night's sleep last night, even went back to sleep while OH was clattering about in the bathroom, and didn't wake up till 8. Wfh today as usual, then having my hair done this afternoon, which means no trip to Aldi. We've run out of bread and milk already so I may have to pop to local shop after my hair's done. Or I could send OH. He has his hair cut while my colour is on, so he could go to the shop after and still be home before me. I should do weights tonight but I might give it a miss today. I haven't had a day off since mid July so I think I deserve it!
Love to Purdey @Charity, glad she's feeling better today.
Glad your ankle is improving @Cully. Good news about the Metformin.
Safe journey home @BarneyBobCat, glad you enjoyed your break.
Have a good day all.

Morning. Another cloudy day here but at least it started right with Bonnie snug against my face and we had another lovefest  Hope this is her new routine now.
We had some excitement too. There was a juvenile squirrel crossing the road when it was spotted by Bonnie. She went into hunting mode, then gave chase. It was really exciting to watch as junior twisted and swerved, with Bonnie narrowing the gap. She almost caught him too, managed to get two swipes in but he regained his balance each time and finally made his escape up a tree. So then I had both cats sat at the base looking up:D

Just the usual Friday mooch round town later and picking up a few things. The discount shop has got in some yummy mince pies so that will definitely be one of my stops!

Hope your ankle is ok @Cully and your foot @Mrs Funkin
That was a lovely photo of Ringy @Ringypie
Hope Purdey continues to improve @Charity
Have a safe journey home @BarneyBobCat

Have a good day all.

Morning. Bit miserable here today. Gloomy and has been raining.

Poor Purdey @Charity Hope she’s feeling better today.

I hope Mr Frosty has improved @Tigermoon

Glad the swelling has gone down @Cully but you keep an eye on it and if it doesn’t improve get yourself along to the dr.

I dragged myself off to the zoo yesterday. I didn’t feel like it - missed Mosi more than the previous day for some reason - but I need to go through the motions and can’t sit here wallowing. At least not all day . Cute baby Fossa playing and climbing. Mostly I just wandered around aimlessly thinking of Mosi but at least I was outside in the fresh air.

Today shopping/chores. Bit of a lie in. I had a slightly better sleep last night. At least I didn’t lie awake for ages and ages. Kito was particularly whiny this morning. Even after I’d fed him he continued to wander around whining so I had to stroke him for a while before going back to bed. Hes taken to looking into the hallway with a searching look on his face. I think he may now be wondering when Mosi is coming home. Poor boy. He’s settled now in his bed and I only got a raised head and ear flick when I got up and came into the kitchen to make coffee. That’s just Kito’s routine but Mosi would have been around getting under my feet and then trying to climb onto my lap while I type this.

I cleaned out his carrier last night and realised the towels under the vet bed were damp so it looks like he did a bit of a wee at some point. I’m now beating myself up for not checking at the vet (because of course vet bed remains dry on top) in case that was on the way there and he wasn’t completely blocked and I did the wrong thing…. It’s set me off down another path of what if and was I too hasty. Even though I know deep down that I did the right thing, I keep thinking about what if we’d tried some anti inflammatories and he’d been ok. I’ve never really been in this position before. With Jaffa, he had kidney disease and was poorly for a few months up to when I knew it was time to let go. There was no doubt about it. With Magpie, he died before we could decide whether to continue with treatment Or not. So I’ve never had to make such a difficult call and it is eating me up a bit. I need to just remember what a great age he was and that he had various things going on so it probably was the kindest thing to do.

Good Afternoon :)

It's one of those grey, damp and chilly days here today :( Had hoped for some sun as decided a couple of pairs of jeans needed a launder and you know how long they can take to dry !

I had planned on getting out into the garden for some deadheading and a tidy up/sort out of my unused/unwanted garden pots collection but it's too cold for me out there. So instead I've finished sorting out my wardrobe - now have 3 black bin liners full for BHF and 1 for my own shop and booked the 3 for BHF for their next collection run on 10th November. The one for my own shop I can take in on my next shift on Monday. Then did the usual clear up after Madam's dig out of her litter trays ! Now sitting here with lunch and a large mug of coffee trying to work out what chores need doing over the weekend and on which days to do them - that's about as exciting as it gets in my world these days

@BarneyBobCat Glad you enjoyed your time away and hope you have an uneventful journey back home - I'm sure that Barney will either show his pleasure at you being back or give you the cold shoulder for abandoning him :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for all your thoughts about my ankle. I put Arnica on it and surprisingly although it looked a lovely shad of purple/blue this morning, the swelling has gone right down. It's not painful to walk, just if I prod it. So I er... won't prod it!
If it is "only" a sprain remember R.I.C.E
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
Last sprain I had took ages to recover despite doing all of that !

It’s set me off down another path of what if and was I too hasty. Even though I know deep down that I did the right thing, I keep thinking about what if we’d tried some anti inflammatories and he’d been ok
Please try not to second guess yourself - you know that the "what ifs" and "what onlys" really don't help :( Sadly it was Mosi's turn to go over the Bridge and you helped him to get there without any trauma - try to be glad for him that he is no longer in any pain or distress and concentrate on remembering his funny quirky ways that brought you so much joy in his lifetime.

Off to find another cup of coffee for me and get Lily some lunch as she's telling me the service in this restaurant is terrible :ROFLMAO:
:love::love:

Good afternoon everyone.
I was up early this morning stripping my bed. I needed to get everything washed and dry so DS can help put it all back on. The beds against a wall so it's a struggle with the fitted sheet. Actually it's about 8 inches away from the wall and I often slide down it while making my bed. So definitely need a hand.
Misty is not too pleased as her favourite fleecy cover is in the wash too. She's sulking under my bed. Maybe it's because I've told her tuna is banned today. Cat cannot live by tuna alone. Or something like that!!
Ankle is much happier today. The only painful bit is where the metal nut on the wheel of my walker dug in there. Movement is fine and any aches and pain are just my usual ones.
Hairdresser is due soon, I'm so looking forward to feeling less like a yak. I'm tempted to put a colour on, maybe pink🤔?

@Charity ,poor Purdey, I'm glad she's feeling better. No doubt a bedtime cuddle with you was what she needed.
I wonder where those two teeth went?! Oh well, at least you won't have to pay for treatment for them. I can't believe the cost of dentals. My friend paid £2,000+ for dental checks and hygiene for her two cats.😲

@Mrs Funkin ,sorry to hear your foot isn't too good. Let's hope the day isn't too busy for you.

@BarneyBobCat ,lovely pic of the tower. Have a safe journey home. I know someone who will be pleased to see you and fill you in with all the details of his incarceration 😸.

was looking at Cosmo’s baby photos last night, it was his gotcha day yesterday and I miss my little man 🌈. I like to think he and Flint have been reunited to cuddle and play like they always used to.
I like to think that they've all found our lovely Stef (chillminx) and she's rolling around playing with them and laughing.

@SbanR , little monkey Bonnie. I'm glad she enjoyed the chase but also glad the squirrel escaped and learned a lesson 🐿.
Hope you managed to enjoy a mince pie or two 😄

It's carbonara for dinner tonight with some fresh greens, plus a big chunk of banana cake and custard. Then put my foot up with some ice and catch-up with some TV.
I hope everyone has a nice evening and maybe something interesting planned for the weekend.

Hello
Late to the party today, I got out of bed at 4.30 and seriously have not stopped. Had a nice Eggs Benedict in 'Spoons with my friend this morning first thing, then came into the office just after 10, phone call after phone call!! Plus 100's of lovely FB messages, whatsapps etc, it's been a crazy ole day. 54, crikey!

I popped out to pick up a prescription for Steve and had strokes with a beautiful chonky black cat in the surgery car park. When I parked up he was laying in the leaves so I "pspsps" and he came trotting over - I thought he had a leaf stuck in his mouth but it was a little mouse!! 😬 Poor little thing was barely alive when he dropped it at my feet, so sad. I'm so glad I don't have to face that!!

My parents came over and we had a fish and chip supper and a lovely chat and catch up. Unfortunately, I've had a headache all day and paracetamol/ibuprofen isn't really doing much. I'm really hoping I'm not coming down with something as I have my brother's big birthday party tomorrow. There seems to be so much going about :( So I'm in bed with a cuppa and yet more pills!!

Glad to hear your ankle is feeling better @Cully
Hope you've all had a nice Friday, will catch up properly tomorrow x

Morning all, bit grey here. Despite a mountain of meds and a Malibu I was woken at 1.45 by the teenage children of people near us, the parents are away and they clearly were having a gathering, out shouting in the garden. I’m tempted to go round in a bit and wake them and see how they like it. The problem is it then took me over two hours to go back to sleep.

Yesterday flew by at work. Ridiculously busy. One thing after another piled up on my desk. Urgh. Today I’m doing a floral workshop this morning, then this afternoon it’s the AGM of where we live (may be contentious due to a couple of utterly ridiculous proposals), then it’s the Ironman from Hawaii starting about 5pm. So that’s my Saturday taken care of.

I hope there are feline improvements @Tigermoon and glad there are ankle improvements @Cully and woofer improvements @Charity - hope everyone is feeling brighter.

Oh @immum I wish I had your motivation for stuff, I’m most envious of you and @Ali71 keen to go to the gym!

Looks like you had a super trip @BarneyBobCat is the small boy back home yet or are you getting him today?

Oh @urbantigers try not to second guess yourself, you did the right thing for your boy despite the pain you knew it would bring.

I hope everyone is alright. Have a grand day, try to do something you enjoy if you can.

Good morning. Can’t tell what weather we’re getting today, certainly no sun about at the moment.

Purdey woke me at 3 something thumping about so I got up and made a cuppa and sat on the sofa with her. Next thing I know it’s 7 o’clock 😮. I had the kitchen door shut so couldn’t hear Bunty on the other side yelling for her breakfast. She’d probably been doing that for a good hour.

She sat on the sofa next to me most of the evening but was deep asleep. She’s not one to interact with you like Toppy was and I miss that so much. Still, must be grateful for small mercies.

Off to the garden centre later to buy some bark (Purdey’s the expert in barking) and perhaps a few pretty things will hop into my basket when I’m not looking 🤭. Then must buckle down to actually physically doing the gardening.

@Ali71, hope you’re OK and can enjoy the party tonight.
@BarneyBobCat, or rather Barney, DADDY’S HOME! Mummy too of course. Be nice.
@urbantigers, its normal to question our actions with hindsight but you definitely did the right thing to prevent dear Mosi suffering any more.
@Cully, hope your ankle is holding up.
@Mrs Funkin, enjoy the floral workshop. AGM? Hmmm, not so interesting.

Right, on with the day. Hope everyone has a good one 💛.

Good Morning
Its very grey here and dull, in comparison to yesterday where the sun shone almost all day long. I had a pretty good sleep in the end, just one wake-up during the night and I don't feel as bad as I feared this morning. I even managed a short workout at the gym (so I can definitely have the day off tomorrow). I'm in the office for a few hours just catching up with stuff, then I will go home and potter/relax. Hopefully have a little power nap so I feel a bit more lively for later. Knowing my brother there will be karaoke and/or games planned, luckily all the neighbours have been invited so they can make as much racket as they like. I don't think we'll be super late but I've written tomorrow off.

Glad Purdey is ok @Charity :) Did Mr C sleep through the caterwauling :ROFLMAO:
I bet @BarneyBobCat will be on the bike today!!
Sending hugs to you @urbantigers
@Mrs Funkin I think you need to go out and start a chainsaw/strimmer lol. Have fun with flowers today xx

Right, day 2 of 54-ness begins. Hope you all have a wonderful day :)

Morning. It’s supposed to be sunny but is currently very dull and grey. Hope it brightens up soon. Only thing of note that happened yesterday was getting my hair done, so no more greys for a while. I sent OH to the shop to get bread, milk and the salad leaves I needed for dinner, so I could get straight on with cooking when I got home. I skipped the weights last night, shock horror, actually I completely forgot until after dinner then it was too late.
Slept quite well until 4 again, that seems to be the norm for the last few days. I had my dressing gown on the bed and woke up too hot, but Milo was fast asleep on it so I couldn’t throw it off. Ended up getting up and dragging the dressing gown plus Milo into the middle of the bed so I had a bit more room and could cool down a bit. I did manage to get back to sleep eventually. Bike ride this morning as usual then we have no real plans, but I expect something will come up, it usually does.
Have a good day all.

Morning all! We have had a lie in - I think we had some sleep to catch up on. We picked up Barney boy yesterday, he was absolutely fine. He seemed settled at the cattery but was pleased to be home and has been giving us lots of cuddles, head rubs and we have both been pounded with him making biscuits on us.

We are both a bit sad to be back as we had such a good time - but our conversation has turned to planning the next trip away :)

Send D out with the lawnmower or some other power tools @Mrs Funkin !

My bike riding for the next four days is already arranged @Ali71 :D I was complaining to Mrs BBC all this week that I was missing a bike ride and threatened to hire one a few times :D

@urbantigers there is no point in thinking about what ifs, its not helpful and none of those things would have made a difference. You made the decisions you did based on the information you had and in agreement with an expert - the Vet. So you definitely did do the right thing - remember the good times and try not to beat yourself up X

Right - more coffee for me before I hit the virtual roads! Au revoir!

Morning everyone it was an early start here as we are down the Eden Project for parkrun then we are doing the zip wire! I’m a bit nervous as it’s really fast!
It wasn’t the best start to the day as husband went out yesterday afternoon and I had to pick him up in a real state and I was very cross and only had about 4 hours sleep. He knows he’s in the bad books but I’ve said my piece and there’s no point in spoiling the weekend with bad feeling.
@urbantigers please don’t beat yourself up, it was absolutely the right decision. I do understand because I felt the same about Flint. I knew it was time because if we left it any longer he probably would have had a medical episode and it could have happened while we were out and the last thing we wanted was to come home and find he’d been in distress for hours. It really is the hardest, most awful decision to have to make but it is the final act of kindness to a friend you have loved so well.
Glad you had a good time @BarneyBobCat where are you thinking for your next adventure? We are off to Copenhagen soon.

Well its Mrs BBCs 50th so we are going to Ibiza for one last big party! But we aren't sure when to go in the season so we are contemplating another trip before that - potentially back to Paris as we had such a good time and there's still a lot we haven't done. But this is the discussion that will go on a while - its fun to chat and plan. Copenhagen looks great but I hear the beer is expensive- don't tell your hubby!

Morning all,

I'm afraid feline recovery is not smooth here. Mr Frosty is not eating, and barely a morsel has passed his lips in three days. This morning I've given him a Famotadine pill, just in case the Synulox is making him feel queasy, and I've smeared a dose of Miratax on his ear to encourage him to eat. His water consumption has gone down, but how much of it is genuinely due to resolving a possible urinary issue, or how much of it is due to him not wanting to take anything orally I really don't know.

As for Lucy I really thought we'd cracked it with the gabapentin. Since starting on the medication I hadn't once seen her frantically grooming or pulling at her fur. He character had also changed completely, reverting back to how she'd been before all this self mutilation started. Now she'll curl up on my lap and stay there for ages, purring away. The frantic screaming has also lessened. But last night I caught her with a huge tuft of hair in her mouth that she'd pulled out 😕

Glad you enjoyed you trip away @BarneyBobCat and good that Barney hadn't held his trip to the cat hotel against you.
@urbantigers from your posts it was pretty clear that Mosi was in very poor health and the decision you made was based on his needs and not your own. You cannot do better than that. There is always guilt afterwards, that's natural, be kind to yourself.
The floral workshop sounds like fun @Mrs Funkin from what I've seen, the changes to eligibility for the covid jab were made so late that loads of people had already booked the vaccine only to be turned away at the door. It's caused some rather ugly scenes by all accounts. Why on earth the change wasn't implemented back in the summer goodness only knows! Looks like only the elderly and those with immunity issues are eligible now.
@Cully I hope the ankle is still good.

Have a good weekend peeps!
