French bulldog puppy diet

Hi All,

In need of a bit of advice please. I bought a 15week old French bulldog male puppy last night.
The breeder has had him on a raw diet. I am new to the raw diet but the breeder gave me a packet of the raw food he has been on. She said to give him just 1x 500g packet in the morning and that's it? and Maybe just some carrots on a night.
I think personally he needs a bit more, he looks a little under weight than most Frenchie pups. I was hoping to get him on 50/50 raw and dry food diet. How much of each would you recommend that I give him anyone? I bought him the burns original rice and chicken. I just don't know how much to give him, I don't want him under or over fed. I fed him the 500g raw this morning as breeder advised and he still seemed starving, gave him some carrots and was still hungry and searching for food so defiantly not enough for him. Any advice.

Yes I did think myself that surely one meal to last the whole day is not enough for him.

Thank you, I will go to pet shop tonight and get complete raw and maybe give him a mixture of that and the burns in total 3 meals and some carrots as treats.

He does look a little skinner than most Frenchie pups, I will get him fattened up :)
Bet poor boy has been so hungry!

Great!, Thank you that's a big help. I need to get him weighed to figure out exactly as I know Frenchie's tend to over eat.

Taking him bet shop tonight so hopefully will find some raw. :)

Hi Laura. We feed our frenchie raw. He is 5.5 months and gets around 300g a day. He also gets treats throughout the day - tripe, dried meat chews, chicken feet etc. He sometimes gets a little more if we have a busy day ahead with lots of walking.

I feed him twice a day and I buy a mixture of raw meats/bones from the butchers.

I do still feed him kibble now and then - usually with some mince maybe every other day - just 20-30g. This works for our boy better than 100% meat as sometimes it can be too rich for him.

Oh and frenchies live for food so he will never admit to being full!! You're more in danger of over feeding....can we see a pic?!
Yes ive got him into a routine now and at the moment hes on about 75% raw and 25% kibble, 3 times a day and hes loving in and putting weight on a bit and yes that's very true! soon as I feed him after he seems like hes still starving looking up at me making me feel guilty haha. I will post a photo tonight

Haha yes classic! My boy clears his bowl and then sits watching me eat my breakfast. How are you getting on with walking? That's the biggest thing for ours at the moment, he's really hit and miss.
We can't walk him yet. Hes having his second injection Wednesday, so I think will be another 2 weeks until we can. I can't wait to beablt to walk him and what problems is he having with walking? x

He's just a lazy little frenchie - they are sooooo stubborn so it's taken a lot of perseverance and his walking is still hit and miss. He used to just sit down every few seconds. We've got over that but he will now roll when he's on the lead on grass - mostly down the boredom I think as he wants to be off lead or if he sees anyone he wil stop as everyone used to stop and stroke him when he was really little so now he expects it!

Awww so cute!!
Aww bless, he will get used to it in time. My Yorkshire Terrier was like that when he was a pup. Just refused to walk but now he loves his walks. My boy is stubborn with being picked up haha, he hates been picked up and just runs off. He loves being stroked, petted, cuddled and his belly rubbing but go to pick him up and you have to chase him round the house to get him. Its funny how they gain their little characters and learn their likes and dislikes, funniest dogs ive come across.
