Riot in Bristol: Tesco petrol-bombed as 160 officers swoop in to arrest 4 squatters | Mail Online

A lot of the young people with no future are prepared to join in these riots.I can see there being a hell of a lot more in the future.Even with the streets full of Robocops.
And of course the giants like tescos are allowed to create a virtual monopoly and destroy thousands of small businesses in the process.

Personally I only agree with non violent protests, but politicians just ignore them, and the attitude of the police doesn't help.Too often innocent protestors get the same treatment as the hooligans.

If politicians continue ignoring the people with their lavish spending abroad, swingeing cuts...huge fuel increases and war mongering, they're going to be responsible for massive public disorder.
There are plenty of anarchist groups willing to take advantage of public disquiet over the way this country is going downhill.

OMG, that looked terrible, i really cant understand with all the violence going on in the world WHY anyone would want to cause this sort of riot, violence maybe loss of lives over a bloody supermarket.
It isn't the supermarket..it's just an excuse to riot against authority. And when authority breeds contempt for the wishes of the people..there will be more.
The peoples voice at the ballot box is being ignored.Once they get in power they do what they want, no matter which party gets in.

You make a very good point, poohdog!

I also believe these sort of public disorders are gonna be common place! And for the same reasons you give! :(

I feel sorry for any passers by, locals or staff in the area but def wont shed a tear for Tesco's. I mean its a global recession and small business' are going under all the time and yet Tesco's is merrily continuing its greed fuelled country wide domination.
Not surprising they have p***ed people off. (in fact I no longer feel guilty about shop lifting from them as a teenager, so there!!:D)

We've just had a really big Tesco extra built a couple of years ago, about 1 1/2 away and I love it.:D Sells everything we need under one roof and open 24 hrs.:D I do all my shopping with them - can't fault them.

Tesco is quite expensive (basically you are paying for your clubpoints). Its an ASDA that you want, they are the cheapest of all the big supermarkets!

I have a Tesco near me but many times I've walked out of it due to the many fake or misleading "special offers" (they do them every week at least) and gone elsewhere. I remember once the pack of four baking potatoes had gone down from 70p to 62, yet they were supposedly half price. I cycled to Sainsbury's instead and got a big bag instead freduced to 30p. lol It's not the price, it's the principle, I don't like them lying about the special offers - if it says half price, that's how much it should be. The ÂŁ1 meats were put up to ÂŁ1.19 or 2 for ÂŁ2. Some items have even gone up in price that have supposedly been reduced in price.

I used to use Tesco for most of my shopping, but because of all their fake special offers which have increased (why won't Trading Strandards touch them?), I get most of it elsewhere and just the odd bit I can't get elsewhere at Tesco. So they have lost a lot of custom through their lies. Their loss. lol

Your choice...but that's the point..there won't be any choice soon. You'd soon fault them if your employment was at one of the independents they've put out of business.

I see this ALL the time in tesco, and its not just a few offers, its nearly all of them!

For example: I buy 18 pack of Skips all the time usually ÂŁ2.48, and this week they are marked as half price at ÂŁ1.99. Do they think we are all stupid? Or do people not mind, and thats why they get away with it. Watchdog have featured these tactics in the past, but it is STILL happening!

They're a law unto themselves..Go to your local take away and buy a ready cooked chicken...You'll pay VAT on it.That's the law,VAT on hot take away food.
Go to tescos and buy one...it will be a bit cheaper...reason..they don't pay VAT on it...and the Customs and Exise have never chased them for it...I wonder why? How many millions has this saved them over the years?

Well from what I've seen of the 'independents' in this area, they deserve to be put out of business as the things they sell are rubbish especially the fruit and veg shops, top price for second rate crap. A new tesco store has just opened in a village near my sisters and the majority of people are happy cos they are sick of being charged top price in their village. Funny how some of the protestors who didn't want the Tesco to be built and protested right to the end are now shopping in it.

I don't like Asda at all, I don't find it cheaper and I love the clubcard points with Tesco as I save them to buy clothes for the kids. Like the computer for schools thing that Tesco does too, don't think Asda do them do they?

Adsa ARE far cheaper, theres no argument. Asda guarantees this, by refunding the difference if your shopping would have been cheaper elsewhere. Tesco doesnt do this, cos their prices are hiked up, to pay for the clubcard vouchers.

I know Asda do run charity schemes from time to time.

Well I love the clubcard scheme and you even get points for your electric too if you are with E-on.:D I think it more than makes up for things being a few pennies cheaper at Asda.

Its more than a few pennies, its 20p's and 50p's on some items, which all adds up to ÂŁ's on your shopping bill. So yes, you have indeed paid for your clubcard points lmao.

For example a 2 litre bottle of Pepsi or Cola is ÂŁ1.79 in Tesco, Asda its ÂŁ1.29...just one example, I have hundreds more.

No it's a ÂŁ1 at the moment for Pepsi and ÂŁ1.78 for cola although looking at the Asda site that's the price there too when there isn't an offer on.

Muller crunch corner yoghurt - buy 2 for ÂŁ3.29 at Tesco and one for ÂŁ2.90 at Asda.
Pg tips tea bags 240 Tesco ÂŁ4.00 Asda ÂŁ5.45
Heinz Beans ÂŁ2.35 for 4 at both places but Tesco doing any 3 for ÂŁ5

Think Asda is okay if you haven't got a family but with a family to shop for I like the many offers that Tesco does.

Anyone remember the movie Demolition Man where in the future every diner had become a Taco Bell??, thats Tesco's dream that is!!:D
Ive just checked and Ive got 8 stores within 5 miles of me. Although I use Sainsburys and Co-op instead.
Its not just the fact they destroy small business or single handedly affect the economy its the fact the sneakily buy land with no plans to use it. If you have an old disused industrial site near you chances are that Tesco bought it to stop other stores being built in competition with theirs!

I am NOT talking about when things are on offer, just the usual price for things. Which is ALWAYS higher at Tesco.

Yes, Tesco run juice for ÂŁ1, and thats what I usually buy. But if something is not on offer the price is HIGHER than at Asda.

Do Tesco offer a refund if you can find your shopping cheaper elsewhere? The answer is NO, Asda do!!!!....And the reason? Because ASDA know they are cheaper lol.

Maybe its different if you are in a small village and dont have many shopping options. Its irritating as **** if your local high street starts filling up with hastily filled charity shops and Poundlands coz people are drawn to the out of town Tesco 'villages' that spring up.
I miss proper high streets...:(

Yes, this is the tactics I have heard they use! Maddening! ;)
