Hi

My dog (1 year old maltipoo) started with loose poo last Thursday and it got progressively worse and turned into diarhea by the weekend with very smelly wind. I started to give him just boiled rice and tuna but that didn't clear the diarhea so on Monday I starved him just giving him water to drink and then Tuesday slowly introduced the boiled rice and tuna again. Took him for a walk Tuesday night and again he did a loose poo and then since then hasn't pooed at all and I've carried on with the bland food. However tonight he has just vomited up what he ate for his tea and now I'm a little worried.

He is fine in himself playful and drinking water fine and if I was to offer him any food he would have it as he keeps trying to eat the cat food so he's still got his appetite also but it's just the latest episode of vomiting that's worried me.

I'm just looking for a bit of advice I know I should take him to the vet but with him being fine in himself and not visibly in any pain or discomfort i am unsure what to do. He is fully upto date with all his vaccinations and also is protected against fleas and worms

Normally if its just a bit of an upset stomach with no specific cause withholding food and the feeding a bland easily digestible resting diet like chicken no skin as its full of fat and plain boiled rice of plain white fish no skin and check for small bones instead of the chicken usually sorts it out, you usually see an improvement within about 24/36 hours even if not completely back to normal.

As he has been off colour and has had issues for almost a week now and other symptoms have appeared like the vomiting, personally I would get him checked out now by the vet.
