Inky is 12 and a few weeks ago she was unwell, went off her food and very lethargic. Took her to the vets and she had medication for some kind of infection. She's now recovered from that but her appetite was still bad so I took her back to the vets. They checked her bloods and also did a scan and nothing has come up as wrong. They gave us appetite stimulants, we gave her one on Thursday and she ate wet food and all was fine, she's still got an appetite now but doesn't want wet food but will happily eat dry. The dry food I have at the moment is royal canin outdoor cat.

I'm worried because I know dry isn't the best for cats but I just want her to eat and as far as the vets are concerned she's fine? We've tried offering other wet foods, just small amounts but she just sniffs them and walks off

As I posted this she decided to finish off almost an entire pouch of wet food. I think she's playing me, but every meal time is a struggle at the moment and I'm getting so stressed about her nutrition. I've gone from only getting her high quality wet food to whatever she will eat and I worry about her getting enough food and the right nutrition

Ok so wet is best. BUT only if they will eat it.
My opinion is give them the best of what they will eat. There are some better dry foods out there that have a high meat content (thrive, applaws, canagan, arcana, orijen etc) but if a cat is struggling to eat I like Virbac gastro. There aren’t many cats that won’t touch it.

Just make sure you are offering lots of choice of water bowls around the house and replenish daily to encourage plenty of fluid. I give Sheba and felix soup and almo nature broth as extra hydration.
