so my Chadwick has to have a hyloallergenic diet. He's currently on purina hypoallergenic veterinary biscuits and James wellbeloved wer food. But I was wondering if AVA is a good food?

When we got him he had very waxy itchy ears. After antibiotics, steroids and even an operation nothing worked. The vet suggested a hypoallergenic diet incase it was allergy. I thought she was nuts if I'm honest! The difference was amazing! No more waxy itchy ears.

Yeah this is the lazy cat.

@Chaddycat i have a lot of single protein wet foods, I'm wanting to pass it on to people who want to try out some things for either cats with allergies/intolerances or fussy cats - I'm happy to send you some to try out for Chadwick If you want? I think it would be better for him then that dry food. Did you ever find out what he was allergic to? It's all foods that don't contain fish or chicken
He only has a small amount of dry food, his main meal is the wet. Easier to mention what he's not allergic too! Lol Turkey, chicken, lamb and fish x

I have read through it. I did it differently as it was before I found this site. We started with the dry prescription food then started adding foods slowly. Drawn out process as you can imagine but we got there x

Unrelated to the itching and wax he has small tumours in his ears which were found during the operation. Not cancerous luckily but they may get bigger as he gets older which would mean removing the ear canal x

Many of the KatzFinefoods will be OK including the poultry which is chicken & turkey, but label reading is a must with most brands, as (e.g.) their 'chicken' food turns out to include pork or beef.
I was so shocked when I started looking at the ingredients. Some of them I didnt understand if I am honest but why oh why do they put pork and beef in foods advertised as chicken. Madness x

Now you have identified his food allergens he should be fine with any single protein foods that are guaranteed to contain only turkey, chicken, lamb or fish. That gives you a wide variety of choice as most cat foods are based on chicken or fish, with turkey and lamb coming a close second and third. So there is no need for hypoallergenic foods.

Was the dry food you started with hydrolised protein? Mind you that is just the protein, not the other additives.
Any recommendations? I've tried him with a couple and he goes straight back to itching x
