Woke up to find Popcorn looking miserable, sitting in an egg under the airer and she allowed me to pick up her up which is very out of character. Gave her breakfast which shes refused. She then went under the table.
Then I spotted a slug :Depressed randomly slithering down the stairs no idea where its come from but am now wondering if Popcorn has licked it or booped it and licked her paw and if it's made her Ill or if she has a Hairball and it's a total coincidence!! Anyway slug is now in garden and Popcorn is still under the table looking sad. :(

Two main dangers with slugs are poisoning and lungworm. Although Tritrichomonas foetus has been proven to pass through slugs too.

Eating enough slugs who have consumed slug poison will give the cat a toxic dose. Lungworm larvae are carried by slugs and are passed to cats and dogs through their slime, or buy eating birds who have eaten infected slugs. However licking a single slug would not cause a cat to instantly fall ill.
So the slug and Popcorn feeling a bit off are probably unrelated. I hope she picks up soon.

Well shes been eating and drinking so is okay just a bit moody really! Lol I cannot fathom how he got in as he was upstairs!!! And appeared to come from our room the only thing I can think of was the washing basket was in our room and I'd stood it outside to hang the washing out on Friday so maybe he hitched a lift!

Hope popcorn feels better soon.

I asked the same question a while back and general consensus was that slugs do so significant harm. I've also found a few in the house recently... I wish I knew how they were getting in.

Thank you!
Aw poor Kiki and the horrible bug! Lol
We have had a constant slug problem since we moved here in March! Weve had a new front door put in as there was a gap under the previous one but the little blighters are still somehow coming in from somewhere! I've salted round the back door and copper taped! But this is the first time I've found one on the stairs! I'm hoping then it's just a coincidence with a Hairball maybe!! Fingers crossed Popcorn perks up!

Found this info on Google:
When it's dark use a torch to find the slug's dried trail from last night. Follow the trail to find where they got in.
You can seal gaps with expanding foam, or silicone for smaller cracks.
Seaweed is a natural deterrent, and they don't like mint, chives, garlic, geraniums or fennel.
Spray the slug with soapy water to 'melt' them. Don't just put them outside as they'll come back.

I leave an old tray out for anyone who needs a drink (or a bath), and when I pick it up there are little slugs underneath, so can easily see how your slug could have got upstairs.
Glad to hear she's perking up a bit, and that if it was the slug that made her feel icky, then it's taught her to leave them well alone. Cats!!

Poor popcorn! And poor you. I don’t know much about slugs and cats but I would assume no harm done from the slug since she didn’t eat it? I did a quick google search and apparently it’s only slug deterrents (slug pellets) used that can cause harm to cats but you would see worrying symptoms like muscle tremors drooling etc within an hour, the only risk I see from cats eating slugs that haven’t been poisoned is parasites. Hope she perks up soon, it’s the worst when they aren’t themselves. Keep an eye on her for a bit and hopefully she will bounce back quickly with no harm done

I don’t know if this will help, but a little while ago kiki was playing with a bug and she started to act really strange, I went to see what bug it was and I had never seen anything like it so of course I panicked especially with the way kiki started to behave! Googled the s*** out of it to find its name, it was a western conifer seed bug apparently, and read that if they are handled roughly they will stab with their noses lol and emit a foul smelling scent as defense, neither of which is harmful usually- it did work, the bug was unharmed and Kiki was fine an hour later, but for a while she was acting odd and seemed sad. Hope popcorn will be ok soon with no harm done xx

As others have said I don't think slugs are particularly harmful just a bit :Yuck . Meeko has had a few stuck to his underwear as there are a lot in the garden , therefore in his run , in the wet weather .He has obviously tried touching them in the past as he now comes in to show me the offending creatures so that I can remove them .
Oddly enough even although I cant stand them I cant harm them either and prefer to try prevention rather than death , coffee grounds/lavender/seaweed/copper tape etc although I dont know if any of it actually works . I have even been heard apologising if I stand on one in the dark

My friend was so worried about standing on snails she would pick them up off the path and 'help' by putting them further along in the shrubs.
I bet she really annoyed those that weren't heading that way.:D
