Anyone taught their dog makaton?

Lily has finished her initial Puppy Classes and is now on to the next stage. However as my aim is for her to work with special needs kids I am teaching her the commands with makaton. She is getting the gist of it - after all it is hand gestures.

I just wondered if anyone else has any experience of this?

I don't. I have difficulty enough teaching my son Makaton and learning it myself.... :rolleyes:

However, I have taught my dogs to do things to hand signals as well as voice commands. (it's really useful getting them to sit, go to their bed etc if I am busy chatting on the phone! :eek::D) So, I don't see why you couldn't teach them to do something in response the the sign for a word.

With the hand signals, I just used them in conjunction with the voice command initially, until the dogs would do it just by hand signal.
