A microchip cat flap... that doesn't beep?

Hi there! Just in in 'very specific requests'... I'm looking for a microchip cat flap that doesn't beep! I have a friend who recently bought one, and her cat is very put off by the fact that it beeps when it senses the cat's microchip. The cat won't use it because of the sound and she's now stuck with one unusable, expensive cat flap and still having to open the door manually.

I'm wanting to get a microchip cat flap myself, but my cat is very nervous and I can already predict that he'll have problems with the noise. It's not the kind of thing that's usually listed in product specifics, so I'm getting nowhere looking at product websites; I don't really want to spend the money without the guarantee that it's going to be silent, so I wonder if anyone has one that they can confirm won't beep, and preferably one that can be installed into glass?

Thanks in advance!

I have Sureflap microchip flaps for my cats and the flaps click (not beep) as they open and close. None of my cats have ever been put off by the sound, though one of them sometimes expects the flap to open just by sitting in front of it! (too far away for his chip to be read), which means we have to open the door for him. :D

The sureflap one can be put in glass, you need an extra bit of plastic which goes either side of the glass. About ÂŁ10 as I remember.
