Hiya

Does anyone have any experience with their dog being on YuCalm?

Goose has anxiety which feeds her being a reactive dog, as she's basically scared of everything, even including flies because they buzz.

I spoke to the vet and they recommended an Adaptil collar alongside YuCalm tablets. The collar really didn't do anything so I scrapped that and bought a diffuser instead.

It seems to have helped get her out of the funk she was in, and I'm looking to wean her off the tablets once she's near the end of this box but always keep the diffuser. She doesn't like the taste of the tablets at all, have to dunk them in peanut butter, and if I don't have to give her tablets I'd rather not.

Was just wondering if anyone else had been through this and could offer some advice. Did your dog go back to being extremely anxious once taken off them or were they OK? Are there any other things I can do to help that don't involve medication?

I do training with her to keep her mind busy. Teaching her agility and will be teaching her flyball as this is what the vet recommended.

Any advice is welcome :)
Yes I've been through the same with one or two of my collies over the years. Quite a number of collies, especially if they are farm bred working sheepdog bitches, tend to be nervous and very sensitive. My youngest, now 5 yrs old, is very nervous and sensitive and I think it's genetic as her sister is exactly the same plus she was attacked by a terrier before she was a year old. I intended to compete with her in obedience and possibly heelwork to music but there is no way she would have done the group stays or worked without commands with another dog/dogs working just the other side of a ring rope. However she does love agility and although it's been hard work she will now tolerate queuing at shows. She has Green Pantry 'calm and relax' which has definitely helped. It's a powder which you sprinkle on their food. The supplement I have had most success with though is Doreen Paige 'Insecurity' which is a liquid and for fear of known things but it does take a while to work. As with all supplements they may work brilliantly with one dog and have no effect no another so you may well need to try a few but those are the two I would recommend.

Thank you so much for the advice, both of you! ❤

She's never been a working dog, but I don't believe she had the best start in life which is probably what fuels her anxiety.

I'll definitely have a look into the Green Pantry and Doreen Paige products. Like I said originally, she doesn't like the taste of the YuCalm tablets so I have to hide it, and if I don't have to give her tablets twice a day everyday I'd really rather not. So a powder or liquid would definitely be more ideal!
Yes have a look at both websites. I reason I used the Green Pantry 'Calm and Relax' products was because a good friend of mine with a very nervous and reactive spaniel visited a few months back and I couldn't believe the difference in him. He was so much happier in himself and zoomed over my agility equipment. When questioned she told me what she'd been giving him.
