I have friends coming to visit with their 3 dogs. I have a 4 year old Jack Russell who does not socialize well with other dogs. What would be the best way to introduce them?

Is there a particular reason they have to bring their dogs with them?

They are coming to stay for a couple of nights and their dogs go everywhere with them.

When you say your dog doesn't socialise well with other dogs what do you mean? if she's aggressive or fearful then I probably would not put her in the position of having to deal with three dogs that she presumably does not know encroaching on her territory.

Yes she is both aggressive and fearful at first but settles down eventually. I was just wondering about the initial introduction. Should I bring her outside the house to meet the other dogs perhaps?

Do you have a garden where you could introduce each of the three dogs, one at a time?

If not, could you walk them together before you bring them indoors?

I think your bitch may react badly if she's suddenly confronted with three dogs in her home.

I have a Jack Russell bitch and she is the same. She doesn't appreciate other dogs coming into her space and will warn other dogs away.

If other dogs are introduced to her gradually, she will tolerate them.

It may be an idea too for the owner of the three dogs to keep them onlead at first when you bring them inside, letting them go one at once, so that the introductions are more controlled and gradual.

Thank you Sweety. Yes I have a garden. I will take your advice and introduce them one at a time in the garden. Here's hoping!!!

I think I would ask them to stay in a motel. At least the first night. Then if the intros go okay the first day, then the dogs leave, when they come over the second day maybe your girl would be more comfortable enough with them staying over.
