Barney's been acting odd today, really confusing to me.

Every time we have been out walking (3 times today) with other dogs he starts trying to "hit" on Maya licking her back and wagging his tail, just basically flirting at her. Then any un-nueterd males come near Maya he's in there in a second acting like her personal bodyguard, pushing them away, standing in front and even giving a small warning growll.

Now if there's no dogs he ignores her and goes and does other things, same as in the house.

Maya has been out for season now for about 3-4 weeks and never did this yesterday, just today.

Any idea what this is about?

My old man was always like that. They would be in season and he took no notice. Out of season then he would be all over them :)
