    Calling all UK dog owners!
I'd be really grateful if you could take part in my survey about factors influencing the breeds of dog we choose and where we get them from!
The study forms part of my research at the Royal Veterinary College. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete and you can opt in to be entered into a prize draw for £50 Amazon vouchers!
Link is below, select and rightclick or copy and paste into your web browser.
    Thanks in advance :)

New members can't post links (anti-spam measure), but it's in your signature (you might have the settings so as not to display those) :)

    ive done it
    but
having three dogs from differring places it doesnt make it clear whether one should chose one dog, all three dogs or a mix to enter on page 4
I added all three dogs, which was a squeeze with only 45 characters, those who own more, and would like to take part, would surely be barred from doing so

As you only have one choice over the source of the dog, I could only fill it in for one of mine. And that was 'other'.

I filled it in using my most recent dog to join my family.
Nicely laid out and easy to use survey

done it, after the link was put up as I do not see signatures either. I thought the question about having owned the breed as childhood dog was a bit weird though. How about just asking if you have owned the breed before. Not everyone is on their first dog and near to childhood (possibly second childhood!)

Same here, not somewhere I would go to at all, but then I’ve had dogs since childhood and can research and make my own decisions.

I would ask someone who had considerable knowledge and experience of the breed .

    I would too.
There was a point I was thinking of getting a whippet rather than another golden. I know very little about good breeders of whippets so I suspect my first port of call would have been on here

We offer free consults for prospective clients looking to take on a pet and discuss species/breed suitability, temperament, lifespan, health issues etc and yes, it does go down well.
Obviously it's of no interest to people who are already well versed in dog ownership but for those who are looking to take the plunge for the first time, it's a useful chance to discuss how to find an ethical breeder/rehoming centre and what red flags to look out for.
It's also a good chance to steer people away from breeds they might pick based purely on looks without considering energy and training needs or the amount of money they can expect to spend in vets bills.
