I have a very large garden pond and now want to include ducks. The pond is surrounded by balustrade although I'm not sure it would be duck proof but could be made so, equally I am sure foxes could jump over. I am considering a floating duck house and a floating island for the bird's safety. I have a lot of duckweed which if they could help with clearance I would be very grateful! I don't want to eat them and I don't really care one way or another about eggs. I have hostas, astilbe, and similar plants around the pond and would rather they were not eaten. These floating duck houses at £700+; do ducks actually like them? Will a Pekin duck fit in them comfortably? I'd quite like to make one if anyone knows of any available plans? Which sort of duck spends more time on a pond than on land? Any help to any of my many questions will be gratefully received!
