Springerhusky gave me the idea on another thread but didnt want to dilute the OPs thread so here I am :D

We've all had our dogs mistaken for another breed or even animal at some point, what's the funniest or strangest you can remember?

Little kids think she is a wolf but I have to say when someone asked me if Shorty was a Border Collie I was speechless and this doesnt happen very often

    A werewolf

I've had everything but never had Border collie

What shocks me is when Adults think she's a wolf  or people tell me what a BIG dog she is....erm she's tiny  (22" high)

Not strange in particular, but people keep insisting my dog is mixed, fox terrier, any kind of terrier except a Parson jack russsell! Parson jack russells aren't uncommon so I don't know what the issue is. Yes he is a bit on the larger scale but he hasn't got every mix of terrier in him under the sun!

most people know kody is a beagle. the only other things he has really been called are a foxhound and a basset...which you can kinda understand.

with skye, people usually ask what cross she is. though with a flattie winning crufts this year, maybe more people will recognise her breed now.

Major has been called a Jack Russel, which is funny because if he is someone gave him some large doses of steroids, I find it funny when people say this.

The one that annoys me is this weekned someone told my oh that he was an illegal dog, v.lucky I wasn't there as I would have had to say something

Someone once asked me if Pippi was a Dalmatian puppy :yikes: she is a very tiny JRT. I've been asked if she's a chihuahua a few times, she dwarfs my mate's chi tho

No strange ones from humans, but another dog got confused once.

We were out walking and this German Shepherd started running at Dug from quite a distance away. I tried to get Dug back as it looked like it was going to attack. Then, when it was closer it suddenly stopped and turned back. When I got to the owner she said that the dog must have thought he was a fox at first because he only ever acts that way towards foxes!

I'm just glad the dog worked it out before he got to us!!

The usual is husky. One bloke once thought he was a timber wolf, and when he was younger people thought he was crossed with collie or he was an akita or german shepherd
