Just for fun I'm interested in what you would have done!

    This just happened:

I'm cooking a roast dinner, just went to tip the par boiled potatoes into the roastin tin when one of them made a bid for freedom, it fell from the tin and landed slap bang into Branston's bowl, which was still on the kitchen floor as they had just finished their dinner.

They had just had raw heart for their dinner, the bowl was well and truely licked clean by Mr Branston himself and then of course double checked by Lily several times!!

What would you have done with the potato?????

Depends, if it were just for me I'd have shoved it in the tin, if I were cooking for someone else though I'd have thrown it away.

My cousin once wrestled a pork chop out of their dogs mouth and put it on her husbands plate :D

Rinsed it off under the tap and put it back in - the heat will kill the germs anyway.

Blow the fluff off and bung it in the tin :D
The cooking would kill any beasties
Once when my sister came down and stopped at my mums, she was eating dinner and said 'O I have missed eating food with dog hair in'

I'd probably put it in the tin. By the time it is roasted any germs will be well roasted as well. After all, being dog owners who knows what we ingest in the course of a week

It would depend, if the bowl was clean and the meat fresh and the potato about to go in the oven then I don't really see an issue with germs. if it was my last potato, and the cupboards were bear then I would probably give it a quick rinse off and stick it back in the oven. If I had plenty of potato's I may think about it for a few seconds but in all honesty I would probably just rinse it off and stick it in the oven

Against all logic I would have binned it! I'm really not at all freaked by germs generally but raw meat freaks me out and the fact the dog bowl had had heart in would have been enough - yes, despite cooking the potato after, which would have killed all germs etc. If it had hit the floor which is probably dirtier it would probably get a rinse then back into the roasting tin!

    Not logics whatsoever.

If it was a 'spare' potato I would probably put it in the bin.

But if it wasn't spare I would put it in the tin.

I'm not fussed about germs but dog bowl is a step too far for me, I'd happily take it off the floor with her hair on etc but not her bowl.

    Haha! Enjoying all the replies!!

For those of you worried about dirt - The pickles bowls when they have finished eating are probably the cleaniest shiniest things in the house!! Had it landed on the floor however it would have probably resembled a very dirty baby guinea pig rather than a potato with all the hair and muck that would have stuck to it!!!

And for those of you worried about germs - don't you think roasting the potato at 190 degrees for an hour would kill off anything?!!

And for those of you who would throw it in the bin....... Has your dog ever licked your face? :D

What do you think I did??

Just finished eating the roast dinner by the way and it was deeeeeeeeeeeelicious (if I do say so myself!)
