what do ticks look like. Are they black and crusty

Dark coloured, not quite black, like a fat grain of rice. Gets bigger when they fill up with blood. This is one Poppy had over her eye (right side looking at pic):

Looks very like a baked bean when engorged with blood. Horrible things :devil:
