Partly due to what I've read on this forum, I'm getting more and more suspicious about the circumstances of Rosie's purchase, and doubting she is the cross that I believe her to be. Not that it matters much, she's a lovely affectionate puppy, it's just puzzling me.

So, what crossbreed would you say Rosie is? :)

    Terrier cross something.
I would guess yorkie or cairn x other small breed such as a shih tuz or another terrier.

Going on the overall shape of her and the ears, I would say scottie or westie for sure but the coat doesn't fit either of those, looks a lot softer, possibly double coat and longer so maybe shih tzu or lhasa :confused1:

What did the breeder say she was ? apart from very cute which she definately is ;)

Thanks for for you replies and compliments. :)

She was advertised as a Yorkshire Terrier, I knew as soon as I saw her, she wasn't, a Yorkie puppy looks like a tiny Rottweiler.

We (my OH and I) have thought she had Cairn in her from almost when we brought her home; Cairn and Scottie, Westie is what people have said she looks like.

I'll explain how we got Rosie in next post, it may take quite a few mins, I'm a slow typer. :)

First thing, I'd never heard of the term 'back yard breeder' before I read this forum.

I was looking in local paper and shop windows for a family bred puppy, a bitch, small to medium size dog. I'd been looking for a couple of months, there had been some, but they were pedigrees £500 plus, more than I could afford.

There's a larger town, about 12 miles away, one Wednesday afternoon I asked my OH if we could go there look in the shop windows for a puppy, which he agreed (after some whinging).

In one of the shop windows was an advert for Yorkshire Terrier puppies, with phone number, I called it, and we arranged to go round half hour later.

When we got to the house, the puppies were kept outside (This was beginning of February) under some shelter, and in what looked like a make-shift pen, as I said I wanted a bitch the woman bought the 2 bitches in, the mother and Yorkie looking dog were left outside, we could see them through the glass french(?) doors. She said the mother was nervous of strangers (thought about that, maybe just not socialised when she was a puppy). I didn't take that much notice of the dogs left outside, more interested in the puppies.

She left us in the room with the 2 puppies, and came back in with a sheet of paper, which I assumed was the mothers pedigree, I said I wasn't interested in pedigrees, I just wanted a small friendly dog.

As I said in previous post, I knew straight away that the puppies weren't Yorkies, but I didn't say anything, I was in someone else's home, didn't want to get into an argument with them, though now I believe I should have said something. I asked what date puppies were born, she said she couldn't remember, quote - "there was a lot going on in my life at the time". I'd bought a flannel with me, and asked her to rub it on the mother, to help Rosie settle in at our place. Anyhow, we chose our puppy, paid our money and left.

Now I'm beginning to doubt that the Yorkies we saw through the french doors were even the parent(s) of Rosie. Maybe we couldn't get close to the 'mother' as she wasn't the mother at all and we might notice that.

Or am I just being overly-suspicious...
