I think they are snow buntings. They are often seen hopping around on hard surfaces near the coast at this time of year

I was sitting here for ages staring at the photo thinking what bird(s)?

Took me ages to spot them, they are well camouflaged!

I agree with @Siskin I think they might be Snow buntings, beautiful birds. :)

sadly, a snow bunting was one of many birds killed by the bl**dy Vikings new NFL stadium - an all-glass monstrosity that kills birds daily, & nightly.
    :(
    They are rare visitors here.

for me, the worst is that the NFL & the team-Admin were warned that this design would be a bird-killing machine... & they built it, anyway.
:( And of course, now it's been built, there's no QUESTION of altering it, let alone 'taking it down'.

so much for the Federal law protecting migratory bird species. Arsewipes - they only care that it "looks great on TV".

    :(

Makes me think of all these wind farms going up all the time. They know they are killing birds, but more and more are appearing, seems every time I go to the coast!

I dunno about the UK, but they've re-designed windmills here several times, each time making them less lethal to birds & bats - so while they're not TOTALLY bird-friendly, they're way, way better than they were.
Part of the most-recent upgrade was changing the paint - so they could be seen at night.

    meanwhile, Vikings' stadium
killed over 60 birds & stunned 24 more, in a 2-hour period with dozens of volunteers covering all sides of the building to pick up the victims -
corpses & unconscious alike, the bodies as proof, the knock-outs for evaluation & possible / probable care. Some of the birds who were knocked-out will have died later, of internal injuries, complications from concussion, etc. :( Poor mites.
