    Hi
I am new to this. We have an American bulldog/staff mix. He has major issues with the ligaments in both hind legs. We have been told today he needs to lose 10kg ASAP so he can be operated on. The vet said not to feed him at all for the next 10 days, he is also not allowed to go for walks, climb Steps etc
Has anyone any idea how we can safely do this without causing him too much stress
    Thanks in advance
Ps. I meant safely without listening to the vets advice.

Not to feed him for the next 10 days what??? His body needs to function still, that is just ridiculous.

I cut food down between 20-30% and up exercise, which you cannot really do.

Er,you can't not feed him at all for 10 days! His body will go into starvation mode anyway and will try to store fat even more. Slow and safely is the method!

I would report the vet that suggested this, if you're sure you didn't misunderstand?

It is a vet in Bulgaria. My husband took him, maybe he misunderstood. Not like him though. Anyway, we are cutting his portions down. Appreciate the help. I did say when he told me it was not going to happen

    The vet is an idiot!

You can't starve a dog for 10 days!
