Well that's been an exciting evening - NOT...!!
Shimmer is in Sutterton Veterinary Hospital ( my own vets are closed due to Covid cases amongst their staff) as
she'd eaten a rubber dog chew toothbrush. We discovered she'd eaten a good 6 inches of a toy which is supposed to be dog chew safe.
The first vet I saw said they would have to open her up and operate... I was appalled...!! She wasn't showing signs of distress, he couldn't feel a blockage and I was almost certain she'd chewed it into little pieces. Thankfully the 2nd vet I saw made her sick and we think most of it came back. I insisted they keep her in overnight for observation and hopefully when I collect her in the morning she'll be back to normal
Here's a photo of the wretched thing:

Glad she seemed relatively unscathed, but very worrying nonetheless.

Hope she’s fully recovered by the morning.

Will you notify the manufacturer and shop you bought it from?

I got one for Tod a while ago. Within a minute or so he’d bitten it clean in half.

    Hope your girl is ok.

Oh Shimmer you silly girl! You're supposed to spit things out not eat them!
    Get better soon!

Yes but it was probably made in China. Due to my fractured wrist I haven't been able to clean my girl's teeth for the past 3 months (my wrist is still weak) and I thought these toys might help. I have actually booked them in to have their teeth properly cleaned by a professional next week.

May I share the (anonymised) story and image on other forums please?

Yes of course. Shimmer is a dreadful chewer but none the less I would hate it to happen to other people's dogs.

Oh gosh how scary! Glad they got most of it up rather than operate. Fingers crossed she has the all clear tomorrow morning. I'll avoid these then!

The vet hospital have just rung. Shimmer wasn't sick overnight, shows no sign of discomfort and has eaten several small meals. I can pick her up at 1.00pm - phew...!!
Thank you all for your concern.
