    Hi

Teddy is 12 weeks and has yet to have his 2nd jabs. They are due on Tuesday. So far I have carried him around everywhere in the hope of socialising him. I spoke to a dog trainer the other day about puppy socialisation classes and she said I could bring him along even before the second jab, as the risks of an unsocialsed dog is higher than getting some disease ? Is this right?
I did take him along and it was in a special enclosed paddock and be had a great time but now he wants to get down all the time because he wants to play with other dogs.

We live by she sea and wondered if we could walk him along the sand once the tides out?

I agree with 100% with your trainers sentiments.

And besides, most training clubs require dogs to be fully vaccinated so the dogs there are going to pose little risk.

Thanks all. We took him to the beach and we allowed him to have a run in the sand and he met a few dogs, but I asked each owner of they had their jabs etc. I am far more worried about having an unsociable dog than anything else

So glad I saw this short thread, Emma has her 2nd inoculations on the 30th but the vet said she is ok to go to a puppy meet and greet tonight so we are off there at 7pm. She loves meeting people and has looked at other dogs and wagged her tail while I have been carrying her for our walks so hopefully all will be ok.
It must have been lovely to see how Teddy reacted to the beach walk - I can't wait to see Emma out on little walks.

Ah it was!!! I was desperate for him to walk on the sand asap as we live 3 minutes from the beach and my friends dog (who was never taken to the beach) till a month ago absolutely hates it! I love the beach so teddy bad no choice lol. We went to the beach twice and He loved it all. He has his second jabs today and I can't wait to walk him over the fields next to us! I think puppy parties have been so good for him. Sure emma with love them! What type of dog is she? Teddy is a tiny shih tzu cross but he thinks he is a big dog

Emma is a Whipplington (Bedlington Terrier x Whippet) she just loves people and children I think more so than other dogs which I have no complaints about. She was ok at the puppy party but she was the youngest there and the two bigger dogs started a bit of a nasty tussle the little shih tzu (who was absolutely adorable & she and Emma got on really well), both ran and hid under respective 'mum' legs! Emma actually preferred playing with the two children there!. I am so hoping she loves a beach, you are so lucky to be so near one, our closest is about two and a half hours away but we always used to take Daisy to Overstrand and stay in the Sea Marge hotel there, so she could have a run on the beach, so hopefully we will do the same with Emma when she a bit older and more used to the car.

Hope she gets used to the car soon. Love the beach! Such a fun time for dogs. It's so social as well!

A whipplington - that is a new one. Surely she is a crossbreed or a lurcher.

Yes we found it funny when we saw a couple of people calling their Beddy Whippets Whiplington's on several of the Beddy Whippet sites but rather liked it so called her Emma Whipplington

Can't wait to take her to the beach & see what she makes of it. A little better in the car today so fingers crossed.
