My puppy will have had her 7 week jab when I pick her up next week. When would I need to book the next one for?

Also I have a dilema, Ive been invited for a day out, and I dont want to be leaving the puppy alone all day, Would it be ok to take her as long as I hold her even though she won't have had her 2nd vaccination. Me and the OH would feel bad leaving her, and everyone we know who could look after her are either at work or have dogs/cats!

I was wondering how immune dogs are after their first vacc

The breeder will tell you when the next jab is due, it depends on exactly which ones they've used, I've even heard of someone's pup having a course of three innoculations.

If the garden party is only just after you've got them home (the day after), I'd want to give them chance to settle in first, it might be a bit overwhelming; although you'll have to judge the character of your pup, they may just take it in their stride, in which case it would probably be a good socialisation for them.

One thing I wouldn't do is get them home, have their second/third jab and flea/worm them all at the same time, try and stagger them. Pups are prone to going a bit off colour, quiet and sometimes a bout of mild diarrhoea, with the changes to their environment in any case. Add to that the effect of the drugs they normally get bombarded with it can be a bit much for them, so try and leave a week inbetween each if you can.

When you pick your pup up, the breeder should let you know when the next jag is due and also when they next need wormed etc. Aww, I see your gettin a Dogue de Bordeaux...they are lovely dogs. Dont forget the pics once you get her :D

For your day out...is it far from your house? Can you not pop back every so often to let the pup out and feed her? Or can you ask a neighbour...obviously one you trust, to go in and let her out for you?

7 weeks is a little early - do you know what it is for? Some give an initial parvo vaccination early, but the problem with early vaccination is that the puppies can still have antibodies from the dam which cause the vaccination to not work as well. The recommended time is from 8 weeks.
One thing to make sure is that your vet uses the same vaccine as the breeder has given otherwise you may find you have to give the course again, not only an overload (IMO), but also may delay getting your puppy out and about.
