A family member has just had a litter of rag dolls, (7 weeks old now but the size of week old kittens) they are very small kittens and have been for a while, she’s been trying to hand rear them recently but is struggling.

Two kittens have died unexpectedly in the past few days, one of which was took to the vets before passing away, they were going to prescribe antibiotics just in case but also stated it was probably manlourished due to its size. Another kitten has died this morning and we have been feeding them all day.

There are two larger kittens and four small kittens left from the litter (a litter of 10 originally!) and the mummy had obviously hasn’t been feeding her properly.

The issues is the other kittens!... their stools are very pale, even the larger kittens which do not look very malnourished, which leads me to believe there is an infection in their bowel. One of the kittens has some blood on them after opening her bowels but it’s hard to tell if any have had diahorrea as their stools are the colour of the litter thus blends in. They’re very skinny and the kittens that have died have suddenly become very slow and then died the day after.

What could this be? Malnourishment or infection?

P.S They are going to be taken to the vets now after the second one died from this same issue.

Oh dear, how has this dragged on 7 weeks before seeking help :(
Have they not got a mentor helping? Help with correctly hand raising should have been sought weeks ago

Has a necropsy been done on the kittens who’ve passed?

How are the kittens doing? Is mum cat still showing interest in caring for them?
