aka/ Cryptorchidism.
My 3 year old male Springer Spaniel has this condition. I do not plan to breed him since the condition is genetic. However, I have been reluctant to have the testicle surgically removed because I just hate to put him through surgery. But, I also know that leaving it up in his abdomen increases the risk of it turning cancerous. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?

Hi I have never had this personally:Dbut know some breeders who have. They were always advised to get the dogs castrated as can cause problems in later years.
Also when they are pups and undescended testicle they have got crystals:confused:from Ireland and the testicle has descended:eek:

they are prone to go cancerous, i personally would have them removed.

My cat had a retracted testicle, it was not as difficult to neuter him as i thought, it was in his groin. Shadow just had an extra shaved bit on the inside of his top leg, and the obvious bit removed from where they usually are.

if ever i did have a dog with one then i would have the op best to have it done on the safe side than not at all.
