Does anyone leave their dog tied up outside whilst they pop into the shops/supermarket?

I've only ever left Bailey outside alone twice, once when i was quickly popping into the doctors to collect something and then outside the pharmacy when picking up a prescription. but i really dont like doing it. i am scared someone will take a fancy and be off with him. i'v heard so many stories of dogs being stolen in this way.

also last week when i was at the supermarket, there was a little poodle tied up outside. it was a really hot sunny day and he didnt have any shade. poor little dog.

so do you ever leave your dog?

No. Too many stupid people, and too many of those who would try to steal them.

No never. I love my dogs and rather like them being with me not in the back of some muppets van. Apart from the fact Tiz would rip someone's arm off and Sidney would yodel the house down!!!

When I lived in a small village and used to leave Shen tied up outside the local shop.

However now that we have moved to a more built up area I wouldn'd. I too ma afraid someone will take a shine to him. If I do go to the shops with him I make sure my husband is with us and I leave them both outside.

thats what happened to my first dog when i was younger. He was a greyhound and my mam tied him up on the gates when she picked me up from school (dogs went allowed on the grounds) and when we tunred around, he was gone.

No, Nope, Never, No way etc. I love the big idiot far too much for that. I don't even leave him alone in the car unless I can still see him, far too many horror stories about stolen dogs or dogs slipping their collars and getting lost, injured or killed.

Have in the past but never again. I don't really see why dogs shouldn't be allowed in shops aslong as they are well behaved. Maybe not supermarkets but like smaller food shops. I guess non dog lovers wouldn't be happy about it though :(

I often see dogs tied up in front of the local shops here, but I would never do it to my own dogs. Especially Spud as I know he would happily walk off with anyone offering a toy or treat.
